JDU can get 12 seats; Shatrughan Sinha and Kirti Azad may throw out
AUG 30 (WTN) - Before the Lok Sabha election, the round-the-clock campaign for the sharing of seats in the NDA in Bihar continues. From time to time, JDU has been making statements that due to being a ‘big brother’ in Bihar, party should get more seats, but there was no official statement from BJP's top leadership on this matter. But now, according to information received from the media, the BJP has prepared a ‘formula’ for sharing seats in Bihar for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
According to the information, BJP has prepared a 20-20 formula for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. According to the formula prepared by BJP, Bharatiya Janata Party will contest itself in 20 out of 40 seats in Bihar. Now the BJP has 22 MPs in Bihar. It is being said that BJP can give 12 seats out of the remaining 20 seats to JDU. At present, JDU has two MPs in Bihar.
After having 20 seats and giving 12 seats to JDU, BJP can give five seats out of the remaining 8 seats to the Ram Vilas Paswan’s LJP. Lok Janshakti Party won 7 seats in the 2014 elections. At present, LJP has 6 MPs in Bihar.
At the same time, if RLSP of Upendra Kushwaha lives with the NDA, then they will get 2 seats. Arun Kumar, suspended form RLSP, will also contest from the NDA.
But it looks as easy as it is not that. JDU is insisting on adopting the 2009 electoral formula for the alliance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, during that time these two parties (BJP & JDU) were together. In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, JDU contested on 25 out of 40 seats. Now, if the BJP's 20-20 formula is fixed, in these circumstances, JDU will have to contest less than the BJP seats, which will damage the image of its alleged ‘elder brother’ in Bihar. Also, the image of Nitish Kumar will also be questioned.
Now if you consider this formula of BJP in detail, then it is the BJP's well-thought-out strategy. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had won 22 out of 40 seats in Bihar. For the 2019 elections, the BJP is preparing to contest 20 seats after leaving two seats for the NDA alliance.
Two seats, which BJP is leaving for JDU, are Patna Sahib and Darbhanga. In 2014 Lok Sabha election, Shatrughan Sinha won from Patna Shaib and Kirti Azad from Darbhanga. In recent years, both these leaders are angry with the BJP and have also made anti-party statements from time to time using the rebellion. It is almost certain that the party will not give tickets to these two leaders. In such a situation, these two seats BJP could leave for the JDU.
It is being said that Upendra Kushwaha can demand more seats. It is also being said that Upendra Kushwaha can join the mega alliance with Congress and RJD. If this happens then the BJP can give the RSLP’s quota seats to JDU as well.
Well, the time will decide that which formula of seat sharing is adopted in NDA in Bihar. But it is certain that the BJP will not compromise on the remaining 20 seats except Shatrughan Sinha and Kirti Azad’s seats, because these are the seats where the BJP won in 2014.
