SEP 19 (WTN) - The Election Commission has cleared to the Congress that the Election Commission is a constitutional body to hold elections and it is free to conduct elections in its own way. You must be wondering what the matter is after all. Let you know for your information that the Congress leaders keep questions on the functioning of the Election Commission by petition in the Supreme Court from time to time, in response to which the Election Commission cleared the Congress leaders that they (EC) are for holding elections
The Election Commission has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court saying, "Election Commission is not bound to conduct elections in the country in such a way that the Congress or its leader wants." Resisting to the petition filed by Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath, the Election Commission has cleared that the Election Commission has to act according to the rules and the law because it is a constitutional body. The Election Commission doesn’t have to work according to the instructions of any political party.
The affidavit filed by the Election Commission says, "The question on working on the Election Commission of India is not in the jurisdiction of the petitioner / or his/her party / organization." The affidavit further states that Kamal Nath and his party; Congress can’t afford to spoil the Supreme Court by repeatedly raising the same issue, as well as they can’t interference in the functioning of a constitutional body like the Election Commission.
Describing its anger, the Election Commission said, "Kamal Nath and his party can’t direct the Election Commission of India to organize elections in a particular way." Not only that, the Election Commission said, "The allegations are false and baseless mentioned in the petition imposed on the commission, because they are directing the Election Commission to hold the election by their choice according to their personal wishes and fans. "
Not only that, the Election Commission has said in its affidavit that the Election Commission can’t be compelled to accept the suggestions given by the petitioner and the political party / organization.
For your information let you know that after the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections and after the continuous defeats in the assembly elections, the other opposition parties, including the Congress, had complained about tampering with EVM and VVPAT and demanded that the elections should be conducted with ballot papers.
