WTN Exclusive- Curtain raiser "Corruption Index 2017" – Reveals how corrupt Nations are. India Rank 79.

The annual Corruption Perceptions Index has released the report for the year 2016, with unmasking the corruption level persistant  among the countries. Where Europe dominate as usual and had cat dog fight for first position among them for being corruption free nation, the land of queen, UK has scored  81/100, putting it in line with Germany and Luxembourg, and just steps behind the likes of New Zealand and Denmark, which topped the list with a score of 90.The south of Globe remains at bottom - a very shallow.

Transparency International, who produced the corruption table places India with scores of 40 out of 100 ie average of 79 position out of 176 nations, as still struggling and unbalanced nation among the Asian and no mark of significant impact in improvement even after the efforts of prime Minister Modi’s Demonitisation . As per the reports majority of Asian Pacific countries are in shallow and out of 30 nations 19 including India has scored 40 or less out of 100. India has scored 40 and showed no sign of improvement as compare to last year’s performance. 

The report by Transperncy states, retairment in lowering the corruption is due to "unaccountable governments, lack of oversight, insecurity and shrinking space for civil society, pushing anti-corruption action to the margins. High-profile corruption scandals, in addition to everyday corruption issues, continue to undermine public trust in government, the benefits of democracy and the rule of law" says report. 




Across Asia where  Afganisthan has improved with 15/100 , remains one of the 10 very corrupt countires of index, though with wast correction in index from last year ie 8/100.

Where Afganisthan improved, Combodia got worst Cambodia, for the second year in a row, is the most corrupt South East Asian country on the list, with a score of 21. Thailand dropped to 35 in its score this year mention in report.


China increased by 3 points but remains at the poor score of 40 out of 100, matches the position with India ie 79th  rank with index 40..
The report says “China has focused its anti-corruption efforts on catching “tigers and flies” – corrupt public officials big and small. This cannot come at the expense of transparency and independent oversight. Efforts to fight corruption must include a holistic approach involving civil society as well as the private sector”- mention
