Instantly update mobile number in SBI; Wallet app 'Buddy' to be closed in December
NOV 16 (WTN) - If your account is in India's largest bank SBI i.e. State Bank of India, then this news is for you. If you use the SBI’s mobile wallet app ‘buddy’ or are using SBI's internet banking then there will be a lot of changes from December. Let's see what these changes are.
According to the information given on the official website of SBI, if you use Internet Banking of SBI but you have not yet registered or updated your mobile number with the bank, then you should do it before December first.
SBI has mentioned on its website onlinesbi.com that if you use SBI Internet Banking and you have not yet registered with your mobile number, then get it done by December 1, otherwise you will be incapable to use internet banking and you will not be able to make transactions, and this facility will be closed by the bank given to you.
It is meant that if you didn’t register or update this work till November 30, 2018, then your internet banking would be blocked and you would not be able to make transactions through SBI Internet Banking. According to SBI, to update the mobile number, the customer will have to go to the nearest branch.
According to SBI, registering and updating mobile numbers with your bank account is also important so that you keep getting information about every transaction. This also helps in avoiding any kind of fraud. If anybody tries to do any kind of fraud, it will be immediately reported on the mobile.
In a new step, SBI is going to shut down its mobile wallet app ‘buddy’ from November 30, 2018. This app was launched in August 2015. Through this app, customers could send money, keep watching their bank statements, recharge their mobile phones and set-top boxes, book movies tickets and make online shopping. Along with this, other features are also available in this app.
Here SBI has asked its customers to upgrade existing debit cards with EMV chip-and-pin debit cards, which is more secure. In fact, this step taken by SBI was according to the deadline of December 31, fixed by the RBI, in which commercial banks have been asked to ask their customers to change their Magnetic Stripe based debit card to EMV Chip-End Take the PIN debit card.
