(WTN) On this day of 19 December in 1927, three young Indian revolutionaries - Ashfaqulla Khan, Ram Prasad Bismil, and Roshan Singh - were executed by hanging by the British for their involvement in the Kakori Train Robbery. We salute the contribution these young men made to the freedom struggle.

The impact of Mahatma Gandhi on the life of revolutionaries was from the beginning and as Gandhiji withdrew "non-cooperation movement" then the all three was felling sorrow and pain in their hearts. After that, an important meeting of the revolutionaries was held on August 8, 1925 under the leadership of Ramprasad Bismil and Chandrasekhar Azad, in which a scheme to rob the train coming to Saharanpur-Lucknow Passenger train Kakori station on August 9, 1925, was the official treasury was finalised.
The money that the revolutionaries wanted to rob was actually the money that the British used to grab from the Indians. On August 9, 1925, Ashfaq Ulla Khan, Ramprasad Bismil, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajendranath Lahiri, Thakur Roshan Singh, Sachindra Bakshi, Keshav Chakraborty, Banwari Lal, Mukund Lal and Manmath Lal Gupta carried out 'Kakori' near Lucknow, Looted the public treasure being taken by the train. After which this incident is known from Kakori Kand.

Interestingly all revolutionaries changed their name during this incident. Ashfaq Ulla Khan named it 'Kumarji'. As the incident came in notice to British rulers he became shocked. After which many innocent people were caught and jailed in the jails.
After this incident, the British government had caught all the revolutionaries one by one. But police could not arrest Chandrashekhar Azad and Ashfaq Ulla Khan.

On September 26, 1925, 40 revolutionaries of the Hindustan Republican Association were arrested. They were sued for sedition, armed wars, robbing government treasures and killing innocent people. Later, Rajendra Nath Lahiri, Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ulla Khan and Thakur Roshan Singh were sentenced to death. 16 other revolutionaries were sentenced to imprisonment for four years and lifetime including punishment of ‘Kala Pani’.

The story written on the martyr's memorial in Kakori tells the story even today with silence. All says that this robbery of five thousand rupees planned by revolutionaries was not just a simple robbery but this incident shaken The British rule. Since then Kakori's name has been registered in the pages of history. – Window To News
