Living in Smart City Bhopal 2025

MANIT- Department of Architecture and Planning along with Institute of Indian Interior Designer Bhopal started a two day workshop on ‘Smart City Intervention’. Central idea of the workshop is “An eye on development of Bhopal City in light of Concept of Smart City”. The workshop theme is in context of our Indian make and situations, and the fact that Smart City is a function of Smart Citizens. Objective of the workshop is to guide and seek students’ structured opinion on means of having a better life in Bhopal in the year 2025. The survey collected from this exercise will be used for research work by the Convener Vinay Shrivastava.
On the 7th February, Municipal Commisioner Chavi Bharadwaj was invited for the key note address to the young architects and designers.

The ‘Institute of Indian Interior Designers’ (IIID) was available at the event. They have recently returned after travelling across the country in Tata Nanos which was called ‘Design Yatra’.

The Municipal Commissioner Chavi Bharadwaj, in her speech made it clear that if Bhopal needs to be transformed into a Smart City, there would be tremendous efforts required. Her major concern is the MP Nagar zone which has major parking issues as well as water and sanitation needs to be worked on. She has also requested the students to think of various ways the issues of MP nagar could be sorted out and has invited them to the smart city office with viable ideas on what could be done.
