Will Sourav Ganguly be able to make historical changes in Indian cricket?

OCT 15 (WTN) - Indian cricket team was going through a crisis in the late 90s. For years, Mohammad Azharuddin was the captain of the team, but the cricket team of India had not been able to perform at its best level, which Indian fans were expecting. World-class players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Javagal Shrinath and Anil Kumble were present in the Indian cricket team. But as far as captaincy was concerned, these players had mastery in their game, but they were lacked in the leadership ability to lead the team.

But in the midst of all this, the Indian cricket team in the form of Sourav Ganguly got a new captain, which changed the identity of the Indian cricket team. Cricket experts believe that Sourav Ganguly has filled the winning spirit in the Indian team. Sourav Ganguly prepared a winning concept for victory in the Indian cricket team as 'Team India'. Ganguly gave new players a chance and prepared them for the future. Ganguly's greatest contribution to the Indian cricket team is that he taught Team India for wining struggle till the last ball.

Over time, Ganguly retired from active cricket and after that, he continued to appear in IPL and commentary, etc. But now Sourav Ganguly is going to be indirectly active in cricket once again. For your information, let us know that now it is decided that former India cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly will become the new chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). By the way, there is no other nomination for the post of President against Ganguly, and hence Ganguly is set to be the Chairman of the Board in technical terms.

In the BCCI Presidential race, former captain Sourav Ganguly has defeated Brijesh Patel. For your information, let us know that Brijesh was considered a strong contender for the post of president due to the support of former BCCI president N. Srinivasan, but his claim has ended after the name of Ganguly has been agreed. Ganguly is going to become the second full-time chairman of the BCCI, who has been a cricketer. That is it is certain that Sourav Ganguly will now be the President of BCCI. It is easy for Ganguly to become the President of BCCI, but it is much more difficult for him to work on his own circumstances.

As you know, politics has been dominated in cricket in India since the beginning and the BCCI President's post is the biggest example of this. This is only the second time in BCCI's 91-year history when a cricketer is going to become its president. The BCCI has been dominated by politics and the corporate sector for years. And for this reason, the Supreme Court also formed Justice Lodha Committee to reform the BCCI.

The political endorsement of posts in BCCI has come to a standstill after several recommendations from Justice Lodha Committee, and the way for players to get administrative posts in BCCI has also been cleared. But even after this, brother-nepotism is being seen in other cricket associations including BCCI in the country. As we told you, Justice Lodha Committee had made some recommendations to improve the Board of Control for Cricket in India. To implement these recommendations on the board, the Supreme Court constituted an administrative committee under its supervision.

The new constitution came into force in the BCCI under the supervision of this committee and on the basis of this, new faces were given the command to take charge of the functioning of the board, but even after this new change, there is no change seen in the functioning of the board! Former officials have made their relatives hold administrative positions on the board. That is it is clear that the dominance of the former officers is still not seen.

According to a report, the condition of almost all the State Cricket Association of the country is that where the new officers have been elected instead of the old officers, most of them are relatives of the old officers. As such, the suggested recommendations of the Justice Lodha panel have been accepted, and those names who were engaged in operating the board here for years have now been relaxed. However, they will now have to wait for their next innings on the board. But indirectly, their strength in the board does not seem to be diminishing.

It is clear that the biggest challenge before Sourav Ganguly is to curb the nepotism that has continued in the BCCI for years. At the same time, Ganguly has a huge responsibility to curb the alleged lobbying in Team India. It is alleged that in team selection, Virat Kohli pressurizes for the selection of his favorite players. In such a situation, will there be a selection in Team India on the basis of merit or on the basis of recommendation after Sourav Ganguly’s being BCCI president?

As you know that Ganguly has been a successful captain himself, Ganguly will be under pressure to suggest to the Indian cricket team from time to time winning at home and abroad. At the same time, keeping Indian cricket away from match-fixing and completing the IPL without any controversy will also be a very big responsibility of Sourav Ganguly. Now it has to be seen how well Sourav Ganguly is able to fulfill his new responsibility.
