Database of all citizens to be collected through NPR, eligible people to get benefits of schemes

DEC 21 (WTN) - Amid the controversy and discussion on CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) and NRC (National Register of Citizens), now the Modi government prepares to create NPR (National Population Register). For your information, let us know that the biometric and ancestry of Indian citizens will be registered in the NPR. At the same time work on NPR (National Population Register) will be started in the entire country including Assam from April 1, 2020, to September 30, 2020. Let you know that the census will be conducted from house to house across the country besides Assam.

For this process of the census, the Ministry of Home Affairs has demanded Rs 3,941 crore from the cabinet. The government says that the objective of the NPR is to create a database of comprehensive identification of common residents of the country, which will include demographics as well as biometric information. For your information, let you know that biometric data will include thumb impressions and other information of every Indian citizen.

Actually, the information of every citizen of India will be kept in the NPR (National Population Register) and the entire work will be prepared at the local, sub-district, district, state, and national levels under the provisions of the Citizenship Act 1955. Under this, any Indian citizen who has resided anywhere in India in the local area for 6 months or more must compulsorily register in the NPR.

The National Population Register will have three phases. The first phase of NPR will be held from April 1, 2020, to September 30, 2020, in which central and state government employees will go door-to-door to collect statistics related to the population. The second phase of this process will be from 9 February 2021 to 28 February 2021. In the third phase, the amendment process will be from 1 March 2021 to 5 March 2021. Let us explain that the Government of India had started the work of database by preparing a door-to-door list for Census 2011 from April 2010 to September 2010 and submitting specific information regarding all the common inhabitants of the country at every stage of the census of every household.

As you may be aware, the census is done every 10 years in the country. After independence, India had the first census in the year 1951, while in 2011; the 7th census of independent India was done. Currently, 2011 census figures are available and work is in progress on the 2021 census. At the same time, the Modi government says that the NPR (National Population Register) is a multipurpose project, which will benefit the citizens of the country. The aim of the NPR (National Population Register) is that the benefits given under government schemes should reach the right person and identify the needy person. The government claims that NPR will be able to improve the security of the country and help in preventing terrorist activities.
