TRAI claims: Mobile SIM will now be ported faster than before

DEC 24 (WTN) - You must have heard about the mobile number portability and you may have used this feature as well. But for your information, let us know that TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has issued new rules for mobile number portability which have come into effect from 16 December. If you still do not know about the new rules for mobile number portability, then we tell you about these rules in detail.

Regarding the new rules of mobile number portability, TRAI claims that these rules are easier than before and also the new rules give priority to speed up the work of number portability. As you know that according to the rule of mobile number portability, the user can change the mobile network operator of his SIM without changing his number. That is the user can change the mobile network company without changing his mobile number. TRAI claims that in this entire process of mobile number portability, the user will have to wait for only 3 working days, whereas earlier this process used to take 7 working days.

According to TRAI, under the new rules of mobile number portability, it will now take a maximum time of 5 days to port the number from one circle to another. According to the new rules of mobile number portability, now Unique Porting Code (UPC) will have to be generated to port the number. For your information, let us know that UPC will remain valid for 4 days in all the areas of the country except some places, whereas earlier it was valid for 15 days. But according to the new rules, UPC will remain valid for 30 days in the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and North East states.

As per the new rules of TRAI, the transaction fee for mobile number portability will be Rs 6.46. On the other hand, if your mobile connection is postpaid, the user has to conclude all the dues of the existing operator before porting the SIM. At the same time, the postpaid number will be able to be ported to the same user who is connected with the service of the existing operator for at least 90 days. If less than that you request to change the owner for mobile number portability, then your mobile number portability request will be canceled. At the same time, before leaving the service the SIM, the user has to fulfill all the terms and conditions set by the operator, which were given in the Subscriber Agreement while taking the number.

If any user has to send a request to port his mobile number, then he must first type PORT in the message box of his mobile and after that give the space and type his mobile number which he wants to port.  After typing the number, the user will have to send this message from the same mobile number to the number 1900. After sending the message on this number, UPC will be generated on the user's mobile.

Now which mobile network operator the user wants to avail, the user has to go to the service center of the same mobile network company. Here, the user will have to fill the CAF (Customer Acquisition Form) and Porting Form and will have to submit the KYC (Know Your Customer) documents along with payment. After submitting the documents, the user will get a new SIM and after that, the user will also get an SMS connected to the port. SIM porting day and time will also be mentioned in this SMS.
