Modi government approves Wi-Fi service in aircraft during flight

Now forget boredom during the journey in the aircraft, soon passengers to be able to avail the Wi-Fi facility

MARCH 02 (WTN) - If you are a passenger in an aircraft in India, then you must have often felled boredom during the journey due to lack of internet facility in the aircraft. The Wi-Fi internet facility is not available at present in the aircraft due to several reasons, including security. But the Modi government has taken a historic decision in terms of Wi-Fi internet in the aircraft. After this decision of the Modi government, airline companies will be able to provide the Wi-Fi facility in their planes.

In fact, now passengers are going to get new facilities while traveling in the aircraft. The Modi government has approved airlines operating companies in India to provide the Wi-Fi services in the aircraft during the flight. According to the information, if the internet-powered electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, smartwatches, and other devices are on the flight mode or on airplane mode during the flight, the pilot of the aircraft can permit the onboard passengers to use the Wi-Fi during the flight. For your information, let us know that the first aircraft to provide the Wi-Fi service during the flight of the aircraft in India will be Vistara Airlines.

The Civil Aviation Ministry has amended Rule 29B of the Aircraft Act, 1937, to introduce the facility of providing the Wi-Fi service in the aircraft. Accordingly, the pilot can allow passengers to use the Internet via Wi-Fi during in-command flights. But the pilot can postpone the Wi-Fi service when the weather is bad or if visibility is too low.

Let me tell you that the Rule 29B of the Aircraft Act 1937 clearly states that no passenger or pilot will use the electronic equipment in the aircraft. But now the pilot in command can provide this service on the basis of sub-rule 1, under the new notification issued by the Ministry of Aircraft. At the same time, let us know that it is clear in the notification that the pilot will have the right to allow the use of Wi-Fi when if the plane is not totally landed or the plane is on the runway. But to provide the Wi-Fi service, the condition is that passengers will keep their electronic device in the 'flight mode' or the 'airplane mode' even while using the Wi-Fi in the aircraft.

In the same sequence, last month, Tata Group Company Nelco and Panasonic Avionics Corporation announced a partnership to provide the broadband service to Indian aviation during flights. At the time of the announcement of this partnership, it was reported that the service would be launched with Vistara Airlines. For your information, let us know that the Vistara is a joint company of the Tata group and Singapore Airlines. After the airline companies of India are allowed to provide the Wi-Fi services during the flight, it is expected that after Vistara Airlines, other airlines will also provide the Wi-Fi services to passengers during the journey.
