India's fight against COVID-19 needs public support

APRIL 22 (WTN) - The Jamatis who had congregated at an event of the community in Delhi’s Nizamuddin, have been considered largely responsible for spreading Covid-19 in the country.

The Jamatis, who went into hiding in thousands at the time the crisis was peaking, triggered a massive chain of infections among them. Before that, many of these Jamaits, knowingly or unknowingly, travelled to different parts of the country to reach their homes or for other reasons.

At that time the infection had just started spreading its wings in India and the unscreened movement of the Jamatis out of the congregation was a sure shot recipe for the spread of the contagion even before it could be tracked and measures to restrict people’s movements could be put in place.

Many of the members of the group had been to other infected countries and when they entered India, they carried the germs with them. Then as they participated in the assembly, they invariably spread the disease to others.

From there as many of them spread out to other parts of the country, they took with them the strain to infect rapidly their communities, families and colonies.Covid-19 is a highly contagious infection, which makes it so dangerous and difficult to contain. If the members had behaved responsibly, self-quarantined themselves and checked with the doctor early, things could have been better controlled.
