Under the new consumer law, now e-commerce companies will have to take more care of the interests of the customers whether those companies are registered in the country or abroad. At the same time, there has also been provision for punishment along with the fine for violating the rules. Also, if a customer books an online order and later cancels that order, e-commerce companies will not be able to charge it.

At the same time, now, e-commerce companies will have to clearly available all the information like the refund, exchange, and guarantee-warranty on their portal. Also, e-commerce companies will have to explain about the selling product of their website, whether the product is belonging to which country, and where it is made. Not only this, but the accountability of e-commerce companies has also been fixed on the wrong or tempting price and hidden charge.
At the same time, according to the rules of the new act, a nodal officer will now be appointed for the complaints of e-commerce companies, and this officer will have to settle customer complaints within a certain time frame.
