Day 7: Tawang’s beauty reaches out to your eyes and moves towards your soul
The valley covered with white velvet in winters and trees with all the fog. To see the alluring lakes flowing through the majestic forests which will surely make you mesmerized. The destination for today is one of the hidden hotspot of India situated in Arunachal Pradesh called Tawang popularly known as the birth place of Dalai Lama.
The place is blessed with scenic views and natural beauty blended well with the culture and tradition of the city with its borders covered by Tibet in the North, Bhutan in the South-West and Sela ranges separate West Kameng district in the East.
The place is quiet, calm and perfect for people who love to enjoy nature and its beauty, the ones who likes to spend time alone and for sure people who loves to explore different traditions and cultures will go crazy with the place. How to reach:
By Air: The closest domestic airport from Tawang is Salonibari Airport, Tezpur which is six hours from Tawang. The airport is well connected with other international airports like Calcutta, Delhi and on. From airport you will easily get a taxi or bus leading to the valley.
By Train: Same for the train, the nearest railway station from Tawang is Tezpur from where you can take a bus or taxi to Tawang.

The best cuisines in Tawang are served roadsides and in the local eateries in which momos and thukpa are very common. Don’t forget to taste the local Tawangese Biriyani – Gyapa Khazi, which is flavoured with chilli flakes, butter, ginger, garlic, pepper and dried fish among other ingredients.
Places to explore
Sela Pass
One of the most famous tourist destination which can be visited by road through Tawang. It is a high mountain which gives a spectacular look of all the mountains situated in Arunachal Pradesh. No matter summers or winters you can always see snow covered mountains from Sela Pass.

Tawang Monastery
Tawang Monastery is famous for its heritage culture and tradition as it is the second largest monastery in Asia where young monks learn the essence of their culture. The monastery is beautifully designed with old Tibetan architecture making the place look more marvelous.

Shonga-tser Lake
This lake is also called as Madhuri Lake which was formulated after the earthquake in the region, before that it was flat grassland. The place is perfect for nature lovers and photographers. In winters you see clouds floating above the lake.

Nuranang Waterfalls
As said Tawang is famous from all types of natural beauty including waterfalls. Yes tawang has a beautiful fall also called Jang fall located about 40 km from the valley. It is a 100 meter fall flowing from high green mountains to Tawang River making a gushing sound.

Bumla Pass
The indo- china border is famously called as Bumla Pass. The place is perfect for trekking but then you need to be prepared as you go higher you will have oxygen problem and vehicles can lead you to some point only and after that you have to walk if you want to go beyond.
