Do you remember the lavishing greeneries, beautiful highways and coffee orchards in the famous Bollywood movie ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’ starring Priyanka Chopra. Yes the movie was fully shot in the valleys of Coorg also known as Kodagu situated in south west part of Karnataka.

To wake up in the valley full of greenery with the windows giving a perfect scene of Western Ghats and you are having a cup of coffee admiring that view. This is not a dream, Coorg is a picture perfect place for people who are in love with nature and like to explore different cultures and tradition.

How to reach Coorg

The city is very well connected to other parts of Karnataka. If you go by train than the closest station is Mysore about 120 km away from Coorg. The nearest domestic airport is Mysore airport and bus services are also given by government leading you to the city.

Brahmagiri Peak, perfect place to see wild animals

Brahmagiri peak is located on the top of the hill giving a scenic view of the Western Ghats. If you trek through the valley, you will surely notice clean water streams, flora and fauna and most importantly the wild animals. The place offers a wild sanctuary where you can see Lion-tailed Macaque, Jungle Cat, Spotted Deer, Nilgiri Langur, Giant Flying Squirrel amongst others.

Dubare Elephant Camp

If you are an elephant lover than must visit Dubare Elephant Camp, home of about 150 elephants. You can see all the activities of elephant here whether it is bath, feeding, fighting and on. The camp also gives a ride on elephant where you can see gaur, crocodiles, peacock and many other animals.

Iruppu waterfall falls from 60 feet

One of the most popular spot in Coorg is Iruppu waterfall. The fall flows from 60 feet high giving a gushing sound which will make your day memorable.

Bylakuppe – biggest Tibetan settlement in India

Bylakuppe is full of cultural delights. The main attraction in Bylakuppe is the Golden Temple or Namdroling Monastery which has typical Tibetan style of architecture. The town is great to visit in the festival of Losar (Tibetan New Year), which is celebrated with much zest. WTN
