Collector Nishant Warwade Calls Upon Youth For Being Fit

Tuesday - October 18, 2016 8:04 pm , Category : WTN SPECIAL

An awareness program on health, life, fitness, organ donation and personality development was organized by Peoples University Bhopal for its students and faculty members at university campus Peoples auditorium Bhanpur Bhopal.

Nishant Warwade Collector and District Magistrate Bhopal was the eminent guest speaker who enthralled the audience with his captivating and mesmerizing words. He began with relating himself to the students sitting at the far end of the auditorium and said that in his college days he also used to sit at the back end seats. The entire hall was very energized; they  clapped and applauded the honest declaration.

Nishant Warwade made some ground rules before speaking and said that he was here for interaction on three topics viz Upcoming Bhopal Run; Organ Donation,  Personality Development and Career Counseling. He recalled ‘true calling’ the underlying message of Amir Khan’s film 3 idiots and said that an individual should follow and pursue his or her own passion and just in case if your passion combines with your work then you have tremendous results; roaring success in other words. The three points may sound diverse but they actually are interdependent. With his own examples he related all the above three topics.

He introduced the audience about his job profile and said that it is one of the most sort after and coveted jobs but however it overcomes his personal profile. He tried to identify himself with those who are still struggling and have also failed several times. He said that he has overcome many failures to reap success and be what he is today. Those days he said that there was no one who could come up and guide the way he is here for the students today. And through his  own experiences he wants that the students should learn and it should help them find their way in life.

The first story that he narrated was an incident of his college days. As a young boy he had a dream to do electrical engineering from MANIT Bhopal which in those days he could not get so he had to proceed to NIT Calicut there he had to face ragging from seniors. Those days it was a common norm. His senior Ashish Sharma stood before him with a Wills Navy Cut Cigarette which was priced at Rs 1.10paisa those days and asked him if he would like to smoke; he felt like a king when he was asked if he would like to smoke to which he consented and on October 6, 1993 he started smoking. Then he got addicted and being in a public office he found it difficult to control the frequent urge to smoke. One day he decided to give up smoking and left no stone unturned to quit smoking. But nothing helped so much as running. He said that he used to run prior to taking up smoking but that running was a wonderful experience. After taking up smoking when he ran it felt as if there was a bulldozer on his chest and it felt very heavy. Gradually he decided to quit smoking and take up running. So after 17years of smoking he wanted to give up smoking and exactly after 17years 4months and 6 days he was able to quit smoking. It has been 5years that he quit smoking and this is the biggest achievement of his life he says. Now running is a part of his daily life schedule. When you run or do an activity  of your choice you become a better person and it thereby enhances your personality because you overcome an obstacle or mindset that you can do which you could not do. This helps gain confidence and makes you a better person. This can only be realized over a period of time but cannot be measured. So physical activity or running should become a way of life. This will take you to new heights.

Second point he spoke about was Organ Donation: Red cross society has counselors who have done green counselor course. He directed them to motivate critical patients to donate their organs and could motivate 74 such patient and families to do so and bring life to the needy. Natural and unnatural deaths together per day in Bhopal are about 50 to 70 so taking 10% consideration even if 5 people are motivated to donate organ or body many lives can be saved. This can happen only if the society is made aware and many lives can be gifted and many lives can change. So a words need to be spread and awareness be generated for which students and young minds should come forward.

Third he spoke about personality development and narrated his school days incident when he was just picking up English language. He and his mates could understand English but were hesitant to speak. In his school few students had come from Delhi and they were fluent in English. So, he decided to pick up speaking English by speaking ‘tuti-futti english’. Initially his class-mates laughed at him and made fun. He learnt that those students who spoke fluent English used to read English comics like TIN-TIN, Archies and famous five etc whereas he and his mates used to read hindi inderjal comics motu-patlu, chandamama, raan-iqbal etc. So he decided and started to exchange comics with them and inspite of others making fun of him he continued to speak whatever way he could manage. After years he met an old classmate who reminded him about the fun they used to make of him. And now was astonished to hear him speak fluent English. So the moral of the story is that it takes years to build a personality and it requires consistent effort and dedication. You would not even realize but you become confident and impressive. To support this he narrated another incident of his interview session where his batch-mate who was very good in studies had to face a few questions which made him nervous and he could not do well. Whereas when Mr. Warwade’s turn came and he was asked that in a policy matter for a specific clause what is your take. He replied to the interviewing panel that he does not know the clause and if he is told about the clause and the panels opinion he will be able to give his opinion. The panel was amused by his answer and a lady in the panel applauded him. The panel asked him if he would like to have tea. Mr. Warwade said that he was so comfortable that he said ‘Yes’ to them and enjoyed tea.

Finally speaking Mr. Warwade stressed upon the habit of reading novels, newspapers, watching movies, singing songs and listening music. He said that doing diverse activities help. Your IQ can get you jobs but your EQ can get you promotions. Communication and clear communication is a must. A well balanced personality helps you succeed all that is required is will firm determination and belief.
