“My family is my priority “says TV actress Rashmi Golya
Rashmi Golya, a popular college professor and corporate trainer is also pursuing her career as TV actress and theater performer. She loves to do theater and has been regularly performing in plays at Bharat Bhawan, Bhopal. She has appeared in various TV serials / shows of Sony, Star Plus, Doordarshan, Bindass and Big Magic. When we met her, she was full of energy , even after long day of work. She was enthusiastic about her upcoming episodes of ‘Crime Petrol’ which shall be telecasted on Sony TV next week.
About her role in serial ‘Diya aur Baati Hum ‘she says “My role is of Consulate Officer of Pakistan Embassy. It’s a very interesting role.”
On being asked about her favorite scene during the shoot of ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, she smiles and tells us that “During a scene, we had to eat ‘Balushahi’. There were 7 to 8 retakes and we were sick and tired of eating the sweet. During these scenes we used to take very small bites fearing that we may have to eat again and again for each re-take.”
Indian Net Ball Captain Prachi Tehlan is in the lead role of ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ . “ It’s fun working with Prachi” says Rashmi. She further adds “ We call her ‘Sonakshi’ on set because she looks like Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha. Co-actors of ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ calls me ‘teacher madam’ due to my profession as a college teacher.”
It’s an interesting situation that made Rashmi enter theater. She used to take her son to Bharat Bhawan, Bhopal for theatre plays. At times, she had to wait for long hours. As she had a passion for acting, therefore, one day she approached the director of a play Farruq Sher Khan, for a role. He took an audition and offered Rashmi a role in play named ‘Madarsa Baligaan’. After that, there was no looking back for Rashmi. She started to work with many big names in theatre plays.
“It’s very challenging to work in theatre plays. It’s all about being spontaneous, there are no re-takes and one can’t afford to make mistakes. In theatre acting, a person has to be perfect. Theatre plays also require lot of hard work because even for a single play we have to do rehearsals for 2 hours each day continuously for 30 days. Best acting can be learned through theatre performances.” says Rashmi.
When asked about her upcoming play at Bharat Bhawan , she tell us that the play titled ‘Kaal Chakra’ directed by Asim Dubey is scheduled to begin on 30th Jan. 2016. This play is a Hindi version of very popular Marathi play with same name.

For Rashmi her family is her priority. She has got calls from Balaji Films & Swastik Films to come to Mumbai and give auditions for their production house. But she is not willing to move to Mumbai , due to education of her son. “I don’t want my son’s academics to suffer.” says Rashmi. She adds “I feel that Bhopal has lot of opportunities for actors. Many TV serials & films are being shot in Bhopal. But yes, later on, I will definitely start acting in big budget films whenever it is offered to me.”
For Rashmi, the passion for dance and acting was from childhood. “When I was in class 8th, I got a degree in Kathak” Rashmi tells us proudly. Since her school days she was an active participant in all cultural events. “I used to organize plays in school & loved to do choreography in school and college cultural events. I loved fusion dances, something like Bharatnatyam dance on Michael Jackson’s beats.” Rashmi adds.
On being asked “Between your career in education and career in acting, which one would you prefer to choose?” She told “Presently my priority is my career in education and corporate training along with theatre plays & limited roles in TV serials. Education is very important for everyone. I have done my MBA from IGNOU and went to USA for Executive Programme. Later in life, I may pursue full time career in acting after my son is grown up and completes class 12th. Setting priorities is very important in life. My family will always remain my first priority.”

Rashmi’s message for youth “I strongly advocate that young people should not run towards acting career without completing their education, because acting career is full of uncertainty. Education gives you respect and security, the youth should pursue acting career along with education, not neglecting education completely in initial stage. Later, after education is completed, they can pursue acting as full time profession.” -Window To News Network
