Anti-nation slogans at JNU sparks reactions
The incident wherein a group of students allegedly shouted slogans against the government over the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru earlier this week hasn’t gone well with Indians. Till the filing of this report, the Delhi Police had registered charges of sedition and criminal conspiracy against ‘unknown people’ and JNU students’ union president Kanhaiya Kumar arrested. The union has been booked for sedition.
While the Home Minster Rajnath Singh and Union HRD minister Smriti Irani too have indicated strong actions against the guilty, the incident has evoked strong protests against the student’s group from in the state capital of Madhya Pradesh. WTN brings before you what the common man thinks about it.
Dr Dayanidhi Baruah, a renowned dentist strongly reacting to the episode said, “We are the largest democratic nation in the world. But this does not mean we could go against the country. Anti-national activities in the country must be mowed down. I hope the Home Minister Rajnath Singh and HRD Minister Smriti Irani will keep their words and take stern actions against those involved in the stint.”
Reacting to All Parties Hurriyat Conference statement wherein on Thursday the chief supported the incident by saying that the students neither committed any act of violence nor indulged in any illegal activity, 24-year-old Namita Mahor who recently appeared for Civil Services said, “You can’t possibly raise anti-national slogans while you live in India. In fact, the government must leave them on the Pakistan border with their bag and baggage and if possible along with their families. If such incidents are not checked now, many more will happen.”
Speaking on the same lines Director of Oriental College of Management Dr PK Chopra questioned vehemently, “Where is the dignity of Indians? On one hand we have bravehearts like Hanamanthappa Koppad and here we have such traitors living with us. In the name of democracy, expression of speech, secularism we can’t have people raising anti-India slogans or questioning the nation’s unity and integrity.”
“The youth is the power house of any nation. Where is India heading for? The youngsters have such fertile mind so why can’t they use it for better work and for constructive things. What happened is absolutely shameful. I have no words to express my grief as they have insulted our motherland,” expressed IDBI Assistant Manager Sarabjeet Kaur.
