Medical students skip rural service
Once again the MBBS and postgraduate medical students in Madhya Pradesh are in news. This time about 200 doctors have once again violated the mandatory one year rural service. It is essential for every MBBS and postgraduate medical student to comply with this government rules which are made clear at the time of admission.
On an earlier occasion, the government medical colleges were clearly instructed to release or clear documents of only those doctors who fulfill the one-year rural health service bond. The posting of such doctors is done by the health department on receiving the list from medical education department.
If sources are to be believed there have been instances where in sent lists of doctors who have not completed the required one-year term. The list was sent to the Madhya Pradesh Medical Council to cancel their registration, but neither the Medical Council nor the Medical Education Department has taken any action against them as of yet. The Deans of the Government medical colleges are said to have ignored orders issued by the Director medical education.
