A Common Man’s Fear

Saturday - February 20, 2016 10:19 am , Category : WTN SPECIAL

As violent incidents are reported from across the country for various reasons a question haunts me.

What are we teaching and setting examples for the coming generations?

There are various claims when an incident marred with blood and violence is reported. There are blames and counter blames. But a fact remains; violence has always been instigated for some hidden purposes by people who want to break the social fabric of this country.

And as a common man I fail to understand what is achieved by sending people like me live in fear and terror.

Some term it as political violence, some say it is religious, some say is was feudalism, some say it was due to casteism, but as a common man of this country I don’t understand how and what does it matter to differentiate the name and type of violence?

Whatever names we give people get killed, blood spilled on streets and families loose their loved ones.

Ask a common man like me about what we want?

The answer of thousands and millions like me would be simple. We want quality life, peaceful atmosphere governed by our chosen representatives who respect the rights of peace and harmony of the people and will not curb it.

I and others want political leadership which observes and respect peace. I want a leadership that believes in justice and does not use society to instigate more and more violence.

Our ancient culture ruled by great rules like the mighty Ashoka has taught us that we create the type of politics and society we want. What we see at present is not the type of atmosphere and frictions in society a common man would like to live in.  There are some people around us today who believe that they can use any tantrums and conspiracies to get the result they want.

It does not matter to them what a common man of this country wants. What matters to them is sending this society into a frenzy of fear and hatred for their personal gains.

They operate without principles, values or standards. But society without principles and values is a very very dangerous place to live in.

Trust this common man of this country when he says that he lives in fear whole day. Believe him when he says that we are being led on a path of destruction and politics of violence.

This is a danger we are facing. We are up in struggle against a danger where the battle can be fought only with education and awareness. We must build a strong nation and society that can ensure the principles, standards and values of peace and harmony. A dream that Mahatma Gandhi and other great leaders have envisioned.

This cannot happen in a day. We must fight hard and work for it together. We cannot protect our people from violence by leaving them to it; we must all work to protect each other because this can only be done together. We must change and make others change for a peaceful society a common man of this country would dream and desire.

And it is now a fight for keeping this country united and harmonious. It is also a fight for handing over a strong nation to coming generations who will question us, if we fail to deliver them peace.
