You deserve luscious eyelashes
Blessed are those born with long-thick luscious eyelashes! But others need not fret for theirs can be worked upon. Voluminous lashes give a dramatic look. So, while we can opt for mascara, extensions and false eyelashes for an attractive look in a jiffy, let’s try out ways to make them dense naturally.
Pamper with castor/olive oil
Beauty expert Shahnaz Husain has strongly vouched use of castor oil on several occasions. The oil boosts growth of eyebrows and eyelashes. The trick is to apply very little oil everyday but avoid it during the night.
The same result can be availed with the regular use of olive oil or mixing the two. Several beauty experts also feel that regular use of petroleum jelly or Vaseline and aloe vera gel also boosts hair growth.
It is essential to remember that it takes at least two months for the results to be visible – in the next eyelash cycle.
Eat well
Just like any other organ of our body, our eyelashes too need a healthy diet. Apples, guavas, and other fruits; green vegetables, eggs, meat, fish and other sources of proteins must essentially be included in the daily food.
Trimming helps
There are expert parlours where one can get their eyelashes trimmed every alternate months. Here, is a word of caution that this “must not” be tried at home as it could lead to major eye accidents or leave you with uneven lashes. Trimming stimulates eyelashes follicles thus, making them grow healthier and faster.
Avoid fake eyelashes
Fake eyelashes harm natural ones. They do not let the natural lashes breath. Also many people use kajal on the rim of upper eyelid for an attractive look, but then it affects the eye health – especially if done regularly.
Check for eyelash dandruff
Often the eyelashes get affected with dandruff. It weakens the hair resulting in loss. Hence, it is essential to provide nourishment to lashes.
Use eyelash comb
Just as we brush our hair or teeth, make brushing eyelashes with an eyelash comb a part of regular grooming. This way you can create the appearance of long eyelashes, without actually applying the mascara.
Minimise cosmetics
Eyelashes love fresh air. So, given the first opportunity get rid of the eyeliner or mascara or any other applied cosmetics. Mascara is heavy for the lashes and makeup close to the eye clogs the already thin skin.
Be gentle
While removing the eye makeup – which includes the entire eye socket area – be gentle and use swabs. The eyelashes are delicate and may not grow back or become sparse if not handled properly. Lashes take longer than hair to grow back.
Caution
Natural conditioners for eyelashes are easily available. But going what the experts feel, use of such chemicals must be strictly avoided or used rarely/occasionally. Also, one must make sure the product is well within the expiry date limit. After all, eyes are precious.
Tip
For those who wear contact lenses, they must first apply mascara and then wear the lenses.
