IBM Innovation Centre of Education Students Celebrate Engineers Day

THE Student of IBM Innovation Centre of Education. Peoples University,celebrated Engineers Day on Thursday. Peoples Group Director and Trustee, Megha Vijaywargia was the chief guest of the programme.

Vice-Chancellor of Peoples University Dr V.K.Pandya inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Students shed light on the life of M. Visveswaraya and remembered his works done in engineering field. Apart from this, cultural programmes were held to mark the occasion.

Vice Chancellor of Peoples University Dr. Pandya and Principal addressed the students, they later inspected the various projects made by the students. The Selected students were felicitated with awards.

The Students have participated in project exhibition in large number. They have prepared the models by using house hold items. The models included status of Lord Ganesh, solar trolley and a cute cat. The programme ended with vote of thanks.

Speaking on the occasion the dignitaries highlighted the importance of Engineers Day. They said that Engineers Day is celebrated to commemorate 155th birth anniversary of M. Visveswaraya who was a known Scholar,Statesman, Educationist.

During his life period he had done various good jobs which came as a boon to people. For instance,when he was serving as Chief Engineer at Hyderabad in 1909. he had designed a flood protection system to safeguard the city from floods. In later life,he had also served as Diwan of Mysore state. For his immense contribution, he was awarded with Bhaarat Ratna in 1955.-WTN
