For those soft, rosy lips
Chubby cheeks, dimple chin, rosy lips, teeth within. Every woman secretly hums this nursery rhyme and wishes she be known for her beautiful lips. But as one ages, the lips tend to lose its softness and colour. This happens because the skin on the lips is thinner than other parts of the body and may lose moisture even before one realises it. WTN makes an attempt to restore that natural colour on your lips.
· Chocolate & Cocoa butter
Melt very little chocolate chips and cocoa butter and add vitamin E. Massage it regularly to keep lips moist. Chocolate is an antioxidant resveratrol and prevents darkening of lips while cocoa butter keeps them moist
· Aloe vera
Aloe vera is packed with goodness of beauty and health. Apply a little fresh gel to the lips as. The gel is harmless and can be used 2-3 times a day. The gel strengthens the oil layer and hydrates the chapped lips. Though fresh application is better, you can store some of it in the refrigerator as well.
· Lemon juice
Lemon juice is a beaching agent. For a couple of months coat a few drops of the juice on the lips before going to bed. Also, lightly scrubbing the lips with the juice and sugar can remove the dead cells. While lemon lightens the skin, sugar is a great exfoliating agent. Another remedy is to mix lemon juice and honey and keep it overnight can yield amazing results. Do not forget to apply moisturiser after you rinse it to conceal the nutrition within.
Exfoliating too often or for too long can abrade your lips, leaving them wounded and exposed. The citrus extracts clear the tan too.
· Rose
Rose petals or water sooths, cools as well as moisturises the skin. Overnight application of rose water with honey or petal paste with honey, butter or milk cream will leave you with rosy lips. Honey is a natural moisturising agent and can be applied overnight for the same effect.
Also, you may try soaking a couple of petals in milk for an hour or two and then make a paste of it and add a pinch of saffron to it. Leave it for 15 minutes each twice a day.
· Olive/ Almond/ Coconut oil
Olive oil has necessary nutrients that moisturise the skin and leaves it baby supple. Simply rubbing in a couple of oil drops on the lips twice a day will help restore the natural lip colour. You may also prepare a scrub by sprinkling sugar granules to the oil and scrubbing it regularly for a month.
Similarly, a few drops of almond or coconut oil added to honey (or all three mixed) can be applied to the lips.
· Beetroot/ Cucumber
Beetroot is another excellent bleaching agent and works well on dark lips. Application of fresh beetroot and keeping it overnight will help bring back the rosiness. Secondly, you may also mix the juice with a drop or two of carrot juice and massage it on the lips and leave it for an hour or two.
You may also gently rub cucumber slices everyday on the lips and allow them the juice to get absorbed. Doing this for 10 minutes each day will make the lips supple and pink naturally. Store the remaining juice in the refrigerator.
· Pomegranate
Add a few crushed seeds to a couple of drops of warm milk or milk cream and rose petals and massage it on the lips. Rinse with warm water. Repeat this process every day for at least two months to see the effect. Also, you can try a few drops of pomegranate, beetroot and carrot juice in equal quantities. This fruit hydrates the lips beautifully
· Berries
Raspberries, strawberries, mulberries or apple are laden with vitamins and minerals. Mix a few drops of the berry juice with aloe vera gel and honey or petroleum jelly and apply it on the lips. Within three weeks you will receive compliments for beautiful, healthy lips.
Home made scrubs
· Make a thick paste by mixing sugar and fresh cream
· You may squeeze fresh lime juice and a few drops of coconut oil and mix them with sugar to make a thick paste. Refrigerate it so that it can be used everyday for a week.
· Scrub a mix of sugar and cold cream once a week.
· Take a couple of drops of milk and add turmeric power to make a paste of it. Rub the paste on the lips for 2-3 minutes to exfoliate and then leave it for another 2-3 minutes. Rinse with tap water and dab a little moisturiser on it.
· Mix sugar, honey, and petroleum jelly and scrub using your index finger or a soft toothbrush. You may replace sugar with brown sugar and honey with olive, coconut or almond oil. Vanilla essence can also be added for flavour.
· Mix raspberry or strawberries, mulberries with little aloe vera gel and apply it on the lips.

· Keep yourself hydrated
· Choose skin friendly cosmetics with vitamin E and almond oil
· Remove make up before sleeping
· Avoid coffee and tea
· Avoid dark colours
· Avoid contact with chlorine
· Avoid licking lips
· Quit smoking if possible
