Apart from tasting excellent, chocolate recently gave yet another strong reason to be consumed in large portions. A few studies suggested that chocolate eating may result into better functioning of brain. But if trusting the idea, you are thinking about eating chocolate more often than ever, go through the list of harms chocolate is associated with.
Fat content in chocolate
Chocolate is an energy-rich food which may cause obesity if extra physical activities are not performed to consume the excessive energy. Raw chocolate contains high amount of cocoa butter which is a type of fat removed during chocolate preparation. This fat is mixed back in different proportions during the manufacturing. Depending upon the choice, manufacturers may include other fats such as sugars and powdered milk.

A wide range of researches has been conducted to know the possible effects of chocolate on human health, but there is insufficient evidence to make much out of it to make any claim. Yet consuming chocolates have been considered causing a few harms which better not be ignored.
Harms caused by chocolate
Acne
Skin lover may use chocolate in any other form but eating is a strict no. Though, it is mare a popular belief and not scientific studies are here to back up that chocolate causes acne but why take risk.
The reason behind the belief is that chocolate is that other content in chocolate including sugar, corn syrup and other simple carbohydrates are studies proven ache causing elements. While chocolate is a low glycemic index, some dietary causes of acne could be associated with chocolate.
Chocoholic Effect
Though chocolate is not typically considered as a strong addictive, yet some people may face a craving for chocolate. This craving derives term chocoholic.
Aphrodisiac effect
Yet again, no scientific study proves the point but chocolate is considered to be leaving aphrodisiac effect. It stimulates desire for sex.
Low Blood Pressure
A short term effect of lowering blood pressure after consuming cocoa products makes the chocolate causing drop in blood pressure. So people suffering from low blood pressure should avoid chocolate.
Chocolate as stimulant
Chocolate contains caffeine which works as a mild stimulant. It is known to leave the same effect as the Theobromine does.
Obesity
Obesity is a body type which is known to cause a number of health issues. Though, chocolate’s effect on body weight is not research proved yet high calories intake through chocolate may lead to weight gain. Excessive body weight gain may trigger many diseases such as cardiovascular disease.
Lead content
Lead has been known as a harmful element. Studies suggest that a small portion of lead may prove dangerous for children. Though, small amount of chocolate does do any harm to children in general but regular and excessive consumption may prove fatal.
Some researchers suggest that lead may react in presence of cocoa and contamination may take place during eh manufacturing process. Time to time, lead level is tested to curb any harmful effect from taking place due to excess of lead in chocolate.
Presence of polyphenol content
Polyphenol content is found in chocolate especially flavan-3-ols (catechins) and flavonoids. Both of the elements are under study for their possible effects on the human body. These two are found in three types of chocolates varying in amount.
In dark chocolate, phenolics amounts 579 per 100g while it ranges to 160 in milk chocolate and 126 in White chocolate. Similarly, In dark chocolate Flavonoids 28 per 100g while it ranges to 13 in milk chocolate and 8 in White chocolate.-Window To News
