Tone your under chin

The pouting selfies could get bombed with that extra flab dangling under your chin. And there is no point in unsuccessfully hiding it with a scarf or tilting your neck while clicking pictures.

Double chin could be due to overweight issues, drastic loss of weight, genetic, skin losing its elasticity or anything else. WTN helps you tone the two muscles — the sternocleidomastoid and platysma – that can help you do away with it without getting under the knife.

 

Tone your muscles 

Pout works

Stand erect with your hands on both sides and move your head back to look at the ceiling. Your neck and chin must feel the pressure here. Pout for 5-7 seconds, relax and then come back to the first position. This exercise can be done at home, workplace and on holidays and must be done at least 20 times thrice daily.

Secondly, pout and gradually touch your chin to your chest. Hold for 5 seconds and then come back to the normal situation.

 

Tongue tricks

Make sure your spine is straight. Now, very gradually stretch your tongue out, hold for five seconds and then gradually come back. Do this 10-10 sets each thrice.  You may also stand with your back erect and face towards the wall press your tongue to the roof of your mouth. Bring your chin to the chest and count 5. Do it 15 times.

 

Neck-ball roll/ ‘O’ mantra

Take a small ball and place it under your chin. Then carefully rotate it to your right and then left. Repeat 5 times left and 5 times right. You may also try tilting your head back to face the ceiling and then pursing your lips tightly. Now, slowly open your mouth to make and ‘O’ and return back to normal position after 20 seconds.

 

Neck stretch

Sit on the floor or on a hard surface with palms down. Take your right arm over the head and rest it on the left ear. Bend your head towards the shoulder and put the left hand on the right arm. Hold for 10 seconds and come back to normal position. Repeat this for the other arm too.

 

Chin pat/ rotate

Sit straight and softly pat your double chin for at least 30 seconds.  You can do this 3-4 times a day. Another exercise involves sitting with your back straight, fully rotate your head slowly clockwise and then anti-clockwise 10 times each.

 

Chin lifts

Lie down on the bed and relax. Face the ceiling and let your head hang loosely from the end. Now, slowly lift your head and bring it to touch your chest, but make sure your back and shoulders do not move or leave the bed. Hold this position for 10 seconds and return to step one. Do two sets of these (10 times each). Overdoing it will strain your neck and back muscles.
Apply these:

·        Cocoa butter: Massage the oil of Cocoa butter on the under chin. The oil can be obtained by heating the butter. This will help your skin become supple again.

·        Wheat Germ Oil: Gently massage the vitamin E rich wheat germ oil on the affected area. The strokes must generate from the bottom of the neck and move upwards towards the chin. 10 minutes of massage for 3 week and leaving it overnight will get you encouraging results.

·        Egg whites: Egg white tightens the skin. Whisk the egg white, a spoonful of milk (optional), honey and leave it on the chin and neck area for 45 minutes. Rinse it with warm water. Repeat this everyday.

·        Glycerin: Mix glycerin and honey and apply it on theskin. Leave it for 30-40 minutes and rinse with warm water.

·        Milk & vitamin E massage: To a spoonful of milk add a little vitamin E and mix well apply on the chin and wash with warm water after 30 minutes. You may also add honey

·        Aloe vera: Aloe vera gel is a natural skin tightening agent. Apply freshly extracted gel and leave it to dry. Then wash with tap water.

 

Prevent

·        In the first place avoid fatty foods and calories which put on weight. Secondly, regularly use a skin tightner and do your chin-exercises to tone it as you lose weight. Also, improve your standing, sitting and walking posture – head up, neck erect with a straight body is the right way to be.
