Check Porn Nonsense
“Sexy girl raped”, a video title says on net.
And astonishingly millions of people have clicked this video. More are the number of such videos and more are the clicks.
Very dangerous this is. A large number of people opening these videos would be kids, wanting to watch and may try to act the same way.
Sometime back a girl was raped brutally by a couple of youths. Youths some in teens downloaded a pornographic movie. With no restriction they watched, their animal desires rising.
The next day a girl became the victim. An MMS was also made of the rape and distributed ruining the girl’s life.
Later a case was registered against the accused. They were caught and sent to jail.
Would the lost honour of the girl return? This is a disturbing trend.
Openness to sex is not an inherent Indian tradition—we are still uncomfortable with it outside the bedroom— and with heavy dose of Western influence through internet, sexual liberty in thought and action is like an import that is suddenly being imposed on us.
And it gets worst when the children become a victim to it.
It is like a titillating excrescence that is being induced and not a natural social development that is part of our cultural mores. Therefore the so-called sudden openness to sex, in clash with a society of morals is creating a conflict, in the jumble of which, one of the most vulnerable groups is children.
We still keep anything related to sex at bay from our social discourse. But on the other hand, pornographic films, the Internet are in total opposition to this social reality.
They create a world and a vision, where sex is shown as a commodity that is to be relished at the cost of all other social needs and priorities.
Children are the soft targets of such deconstructive forces that drill into the impressionable minds that sex is all that is there in the world. Internet is today the easiest medium to access sex and there is no stopping the millions of porn sites that flood the electronic domain in mobiles and cyber cafes and computers at homes.
Love is no longer innocent—it is always sex, bordering on promiscuity and violence. To check porn from invading young minds is a daunting task in these times. Films, Internet—everywhere sex is a sellable success mantra that is always encouraged and propagated.
Perhaps, introducing sex studies in schools can be an option but that too may go either way, as risky behaviour can grow among the young. It needs parental check as a prime antidote against their kids’ burgeoning involvement with sexual content in virtual as well as real world.
It is the duty of the parents first to wean their children away from any addictive trend they see in them towards pornographic material. They must be involved and initiated in sports, music, arts, literature and moral domains, so that sex and porn can be downplayed.
Life means much more than sex, they must be taught. It is love, compassion, affection, understanding, cooperation, forgivingness, broadening of thought, refining of culture, decency in social behaviour— it is not just forcing any girl to lie in bed and make love.
Unless, these values are instilled in kids from early childhood, it takes no time for them to be carried away to the dark world of porn. They give rise to violence and perversion in their minds, and make them see the weaker sex as a commodity to unleash their violence on.
The growing cases of rape in the country are a sign of that disturbing trend. Regulation and discipline in life are the keys to peace and health. That must be prioritized by all of us so that our children too can learn that sex is just a part of life, not life.
