Prosper with money plants

Wednesday - April 5, 2017 10:14 am , Category : WTN SPECIAL

These waxy, heart shaped money plants tirelessly eliminate formaldehyde, xylene, benzene and other volatile organic chemicals from air. Hence, they are aptly known as natural air purifiers and used liberally in living rooms, offices and public spots.

Scientifically known as Epipremum aureum, these climbers are known by many other names including the specialist plant, pathos, hunter’s robe, ivy arum, silver vine, and devils ivy. These beautiful plants cover the forest floors, tree trunks etc within few days and are really difficult to kill. As houseplants, they reach a height of 66 ft or more, if given proper support.  They hate direct and harsh exposure to Sun and chilly weathers. So, they are best suited for indoors.

Know them better

Money plants do not vie for much attention and are even happy when planted in mere water-filled bottles. But if planted in pots, ensure the soil is moist. The size and marble effect (white, green, cream and deep yellow patterns on the leaf) on the leaves depends on the light they receive. Bright leaves are a result of bright light and less colourful leaves are the result of low light. Also, providing adequate support to the money plant can yield healthy and huge sized leaves.

A fav of feng shui experts

The money plants are popular feng shui plants recommended by experts that energises the home, attracts wealth and good fortune. There is no specific rule or direction for it to be placed or to grow, but it is said that placing it in front of a sharp corner or angle reduces anxiety, helps avoid arguments and sleep disorders.  Also, because of their capacity to purify the atmosphere, they must be kept in living and bedrooms for healthy breathing and inducing sleep.
