Receding hairlines and thin hair strands swirling in the corner of a room can actually give you nightmares. In very common terms it is called hair fall. It is a gradual shedding ore decrease in the density of hair.
Each strand of hair is made up of protein. Thinning of hair can be due to hormonal, genetic or climatic reasons. It generally happens as we age and is a natural and normal process among both men and women. According to Ayurveda, hair is the byproduct of “Asthi” or bone. It says that the tissue which is responsible for bone formation is also responsible for hair growth and blames Pitta Dosha for excessive hair fall. Causes
Some of the prime causes of hair fall include,
· Hormonal & genetic conditions
· Hyper vitaminosis of vitamin A
· Chemotherapy, radiotherapy
· Illness & infections
· Stress & trauma
· Iron deficiency
· Skin ailments
· Psychological
· Malnutrition
· Child birth
Symptoms
Excessive hair fall is witnessed
· during & after hair wash
· while combing hair or on the pillows
· while running or scraping hand through the hair
Prevention & treatment
· Healthy and stress free lifestyle
· Diet with sufficient protein including sprouts, and Vit. H & B12
· Panchkarma treatments like shirobasti, shirodhara, nasya etc.
· Yoga asanas like surya namskar, aheersha asana and sarvang asana
Try these applications
· Apply a paste of curry leaves mixed with curd
· Boil gudhail (hibiscus) flower, aamla and curry leaves in coconut oil and massage to the scalp
· Make a mix heena 100 gms, lauha bhasma 5 gm, trifala churna 50 gm with mustard oil and apply
· In an iron container, soak fenugreek seeds with water for about eight hours and then make a paste
· Mix olive, castor, coconut and almond oil and gently massage into the scalp. Wash it off the next morning
Some home remedies
· Towel steam hair twice a week
· Apply a paste of aamla powder daily
