Education improvement efforts in Tribal Areas took Flight

Bhopal : It is unbelievable but true that by pursuing studies in the government schools, crossing barriers of financial crunch, 323 students of tribal dominated districts of the state have succeeded to clear JEE, AIIMS, AIPMT and NEET examinations. It may be highlighted that 155 students of Mandla, Jhabua, Dhar and Chhindwara districts have achieved distinction to clear these examinations. 3 students of primitive Baiga tribe have successfully cracked the NEET examination. These three students belong to the labour class family.

Results have been obtained by the special education arrangement efforts made by the state government to bring qualitative improvement in the government schools for the students of reserved categories. 250 girls/boys students have succeeded to clear JEE examination whereas 73 students have achieved distinction to clear NEET examination in the year 2016-17. 21 Students belonging to schedule tribe community got selected in the IITs, remaining in NITs and other prestigious institutes. Out of 73 students selected for NEET, 53 students belong to schedule tribe community. In the year 2015-16, 153 girls/boys students of the reserved category had cleared these examinations.

Success of these students has proved that light of education is spreading in the backward, tribal and interior parts of Madhya Pradesh. Children are moving forward in the field of education. In the same context, the state government is providing all possible assistance and facilities’ helping them to cherish their dreams and efforts of the government to bring qualitative improvement in education is gaining flight.

Unique and innovative experiments are being undertaken at various levels by the state government to increase the representation of tribal students in IIT/JEE mains entrance exam. Strict guidelines are fixed for the guest teachers to teach these children. Their performances and studies are constantly evaluated; Laboratories have been established in all the higher secondary schools for physics, biology and botany in order to develop interest for science in the students.

Apart from books, reference books of high qualities and practice arrangements have been made by the government. Libraries have been strengthened in the higher secondary schools. Identity cards have been issued to the students to enable them to get benefitted by the books. Also special study material are provided to them. Regular practice was conducted and opportunity was provided to them to face entrance examinations of National coaching institutes like FITJE, Fortune and others. Efforts made at the district level were monitored and reviewed continuously at the state level. Many unique experiments were encouraged in the districts. In this, “Navratna” and “Gyanarjan” project in district mandla, ”Akansha” project in Dindori, ‘Prayas” project in Anuppur and ‘Step” project in Jhabua are included. Coaching arrangements were made in the prestigious coaching institutes for the identified students by the collectors.

Under the Gyanarjan project, 85 students of Mandla district were selected in JEE and NEET examination in the last two years. One of the student was selected for IIT Kharagpur last year. Students of Baiga tribe Rameshwar of village Singarpur, Yogendra Kumar Dhurve and Ku. Rashmi Dhurve of village Ghughri are selected in the NEET. Parents of these children support their families by doing labour work. Special efforts have been made in Mandla district to bring improvement in the education arrangements. Nine Schools were transformed into center for excellence and project ‘Navratna’ was commenced. Under this, Shala Mitras were made to combine the society and through them excellence schools were renovated for better education system.

Member of Parliament, MLA, Jila Panchayat President, Members, Chairman of Nagar Palika and officers and Employees of block level besides teachers have contributed one day salary towards the payment to Shala Mitra fund. Citizens of the district, businessmen and contractors becoming Shala Mitra and providing cooperation for excellence in the education.-WTN
