Water Resources Minister Dr Mishra conducts inspection of Harsi canal system

Bhopal:Minister for Water Resources and Public Relations Dr. Narottam Mishra said that widening and strengthening works will be carried out at Harsi canals in Dabra-Bhitarwar area as part of expansion of irrigation capacity in the state. A new division office of water resources department will be opened at Gwalior headquarters. Dr Mishra conducted inspection at Harsi Sindh project, Harsi dam and its canal systems on Sunday.

Dr. Mishra said that a long series of dams are in Gwalior region. Sufficient water is provided to farmers from dams built on Parvati and Sindh rivers. He said that strengthening and widening works of Harsi canal system and Harsi high level canal system for capacity expansion will be carried out after Rabi crops by water resources department. There will be no dearth of fund in the tasks. He expressed annoyance on insufficient water supply to villages Mohangarh, Kerua, Sankhni from Doab canals in Bhitarwar region. Dr. Mishra instructed to provide sufficient water to villages in next two days.

Dr. Mishra instructed to increase water supply in canal D-15, ensure supply of water in Salvai region in next two days, repair gate of canal-4L, redress complaints of farmers of village Sotakheria, Bhangarh, Chharenta, regarding insufficient water supply from 2L Miner canal. He directed to increase water supply to Tukeda, Musari areas.

Water supply for crops in 40,000 hectares in kharif season

Following instructions of water resources minister Dr. Mishra, 1330 Cusec water is being supplied everyday to 40,000 hectare crops in Harsi command area since July 24. Chief engineer, Yamuna Basin  N.P. Kori, superintendenting engineer  Anil Gupta, executive engineer sindh project RBC Narwar, SK Bhadoria and other departmental officials were present during the inspection.-WTN
