In the 21st century, India has gone through a remarkable transformation, embracing the digital era to drive itself into a new age of development and progress. The "Digital India" initiative was launched by the government and has played a crucial role in reshaping the nation's landscape by using the power of technology to bridge gaps, enhance governance and empower citizens.
The initiative focuses on building strong digital infrastructure including high-speed internet connectivity in rural and remote areas. The goal is to ensure that every citizen, regardless of geographical location has access to the digital world. To empower citizens with digital skills, Digital India emphasises digital literacy programs. This initiative aims to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital land which will lead to a technologically literate population.
The government aims to streamline services through electronic governance to make process more efficient, transparent and accessible. Online platforms such as the Digital Locker and eSign facilitate secure storage of documents and electronic signatures.
By promoting a cashless economy, Digital India seeks to boost the financial inclusion and reduce the reliance on physical currency. Initiatives like UPI (Unified Payments Interface) and digital wallets have facilitated seamless, secure and instant transactions.
