The movie with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bidita Bag in lead roles is long in the news due to powerful dialogues and steamy scenes. The movie is all set to become a hit if the sources are to be believed.
Bidita Bag spoke to windowtonews.com about her role in the movie. Here are some excerpts:
Q. Please tell us about the movie and your role in it?
A. Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is a movie about a contract killer featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The name of this contract killer is Babu. Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is two different words. Babumoshai means someone who is a gentle man while Bandookbaaz means a specialist of guns.
In the movie, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has played the role of Babu who kills for money and a person who has no values in life. His role is lot immoral that that of Faizal Khan in Gangs of Wasseypur. I have become his girlfriend Phulwa who is a female cobbler. Nobody has ever played the role of a female cobbler ever in movies. Phulwa is a character of a bold and independent girl who never leaves an opportunity to earn money. The story is centered on some parts of Uttar Pradesh with the local dialect.
We can also say that it is an imaginary story based on a local part of UP and the dialogues have also been spoken in the local dialect.
Q. Who are the Producer, Director, and Writer of the movie? How did this movie idea conceptualize?
A. My movie Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has been directed by Kushan Nandy and produced by Kiran Shyam Shroff and Ashmith Kunder. The idea of the movie came to the Director who read a number of crime news stories. In one of the news, a guy murders a man just for two bananas because he was hungry. Reading all such crime stories the Director decided to make such a movie and the story was written by Ghalib Asad Bhopali.
Q. There were a lot of controversies when Chitrangda Singh left the movie. What was the reason please comment. Please comment.
A.I don’t know the not know the exact reason why Chitrangda left the movie. There are different news and statements as for why Chitrangda Singh left the movie. Chitrangda is the best person to answer this question but she did the controversial intimate scenes too. But this gave me an opportunity to work in the movie and prove myself.
Q. Please tell us about your journey from a supermodel to an actress.
A. I worked with top companies as a model. I took modeling as a stepping stone for acting. I decided to do movies after becoming a model and did a number of movies like Mukti, Icche, From Sydney with Love, etc. I met a lot of directors during modeling days and this really helped me in building my career in movies as an actor.
Q. You worked with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Babumoshai Bandookbaaz. How was your experience working with him?
A. Nawazuddin is a really an amazing man and a person with whom working is an experience on its own. He is always in the character which he is playing. His voice and body language become altogether different. During the movie shoot, he was completely living the character of Babu.
Q. What are your upcoming movies?
A. Daya Bai a movie centered around a social worker of Madhya Pradesh, T for Tajmahal the story about a fictitious village in Uttar Pradesh where everyone is illiterate is my upcoming movies. I am looking for various kinds of roles. I always try to choose a variety of roles when I go through the screenplay. I want to work on more and more movies based on social issues.
