In our vision for a new India, we want to move ahead from only consumer protection towards best consumer practices and consumer prosperity. The focus is on consumer empowerment and ensuring consumer faces no difficulties.

Prime Minister Modi projected his expectations as he expressed :

We want to move ahead from consumer protection towards best consumer practices & consumer prosperity.

Due to GST, various indirect and hidden taxes have ceased to exist; biggest beneficiaries of GST will be the consumers.

Effective grievance redressal systems are vital for democracy:

The Government has devoted effort and resources towards digital empowerment of the rural consumer, said the PM in his speech.

The Prime Minister further continued: saying,  we consider consumer as gods. In many shops you may see the writing – ग्राहक देवो भव:( Customer is regarded as God),  Regardless of the nature of the business, Consumer satisfaction should be the prime motive.

India is one of the first few countries to legislate Consumer Protection Act in 1986, just one year after adoption of UN Guidelines.

Protection of consumer interests is a priority for the government. This is also reflected in our resolution of the New India. Moving beyond Consumer Protection, New India will have Best Consumer Practices and Consumer Prosperity.  -Window To News
