Ingredients:
 
Absinthe, to rinse
2 ounces rye whiskey
3/4 ounce sweet vermouth
3 dashes Angostura bitters
Garnish: lemon twist (optional)

Method:

Rinse the inside of a chilled coupe with absinthe and set aside.
Add whiskey, vermouth and bitters to a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled.
Strain into the coupe.
Garnish with a lemon twist, if desired.
