Burhanpur Utsav from 20 to 22 November at Bharat Bhavan

Capital to Get Acquainted with Ancient Art and Tradition 
Burhanpuri Delicacies to be made Available for Citizens of Bhopal during Utsav 

Bhopal: To introduce the state capital with the language, traditional attire, food, dance, music and folk art of Burhanpur, the Burhanpur Utsav is being organized by the Culture Department in Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal at 6.30 p.m. daily from November 20 to 22. Dance, music, kavi sammelan and programmes like mushaira will be held during the utsav. Moreover, the famous delicacies of Burhanpur will be made available in the utsav for food lovers. The renowned artists of the district are being invited together by the state government first time to present programmes in Bharat Bhavan.

Programmes to be presented on November 20 during the Burhanpur Utsav include Shahnai Vadan, classical music and dance followed by Kathak, Gujarati garba, Thiliya Pati, flutes recital, kirtan, bhajan and tribal dance on November 21. Moreover, kavi sammelan and mushaira are being organised on November 22.
Also, famous kaanch tarang, banjara dance, haveli sangeet and presentation based on lavni will be held in the utsav. Under the Anand mela, Stalls of the famous Burhanpuri delicacies like Darwa-Chudwa, Mava Jalebi, Degh wale Dal-Chawal, Zarda (Sweet rice), Banana chips, Turkhati Sev, Masala Sev, Rice of onion leaves, Nimadi Dal Bati, Tali hui Undiyu, Val ki Sabzi, Dal Pakwaan, Kamal Kakdi ki Sabzi- Thesa, Jwar ki Roti, Bharit Poori, Chhoti Soorti, Bhakhad Badi are being put up.

It may be noted that a mixed culture of Nimad-Maharashtra developed in Burhanpur had a deep influence of Gujarat and Vanvasi traditions. Life style of Rajasthan and Sindh also reflects in the life style and art of Burhanpur. The Mushaira, Qawwali and other expressions of the Farooqui and Mughal rule which were in vogue earlier are still prevalent. The first Guru of Sikh Guru Nanak Dev Ji and 10th Guru Govind Singh Ji had also visited this place. Several Guruvanis were written and several ragas were developed by the 10th Guru. Haveli Sangeet in Vaishnav Ccommunity’s Temples, Ragas in Gurudwaras and Composition on Bhagwaan Mahavir are being recited in the Temples of Jain community here. Burhanpur is such a place where folk songs, music and culture have been conserved. The Famous musicians Pundalik Viththal , Mradingacharya Govind Burahanpukar had connections with this city. Moreover, the atmosphere of this city has also acquainted itself with the mastery of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bheemsen Joshi, Purnadas Ji, Ghulam Ali, Amir Khan Sahab,Allahrakha Khan Sahab and other artists.-Windowtonews
