Photo Exhibition and Painting Contest during World Heritage Week

Seven-day long Photo Exhibition on Kartikey - Ganesha to start from Nov 21 

Bhopal: Seven-day long state level photo exhibition on Shivputra Kartikey - Ganesha will be inaugurated on November 21 at State Museum, Shaymla Hills, Bhopal.

 Commissioner, Archaeology, Anupam Rajan informed that photographs of selected 74 world class idols of Shivputra Kartikey - Ganesha will be displayed in the exhibition. Rajan further informed that photo exhibition and painting contest will be organised in other state museums of the state during November 19 to 25 under the World Heritage Week. Different programmes are being organised in state museums of the state to spread awareness among the common public towards safety of great ancient heritage, its maintenance and protection. State level exhibition will remain open between 10.30 am and 5.30 pm during November 21 to 28 without entry fee for common people.

Kartikey-Ganesha

Kartikey is Lord Shiva's eldest son. Kartikey is also known as Kumar, Skand, Subramanyam, Samukh and Murugan. Murugan name is popular in South India. Destroyer of evils and playing the role of commander, Kumar, Kartikey or Murugan is a popular Hindu deity and most of his devotees are Tamil. The deity's six famous temples are located in Tamil Nadu. Tamil people call the God as 'Tameez Kaduvul', that is, the Gods of Tamils. The deity is protector of the state.

 Subramanyam temple is situated in a cave in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital outside India. This temple is famous all over the world for its huge statue of Murugan (Kartikey). This statue is 42.7 meters high. This temple is considered to be one of the Hindu temples outside India.

 Ganesha is the younger son of Shiva and Parvati. His carrier is the mouse. The god's one of the names is Ganpati due to head of Ganas. He is known as God of Ketu in astrology and is also called 'Gajanan' due to head like elephant. Shri Ganesha is known as 'Ganapati' and 'Vinayak', who are worshiped everywhere. Idol of Ganesh Ji is being made in India, Nepal and Indonesia and other countries.

'Ganesh ji' is worshiped in beginning of every auspicious programme in Hindu tradition. Ganapati is Adideve, who took incarnation in every era. His physical structure has a specific and deeper meaning. In ancient scriptures and sculpture, science tells different stories about the God's origin and guidelines for idol construction. His idols were seen since fourth and fifth century AD. Most of idols of Ganesha were seen in different forms between 9th and 12th century. Attractive idols of dancing Ganesha are available in temple and museums in the country and abroad. Idols of Kartikey and Ganesha have been displayed in the state level exhibition.-Windowtonews
