Raising fund should not be a first priority for a business : Venktesh

Bhopal: As an entrepreneur you should work on presenting a solution for a problem first. You should also test your idea by discussing as many people as you can before taking a plunge. Raising fund should be your third or fourth priority. There are two things that make an start up successful - Focus and Sense of Urgency. Six out of ten start ups fail because they do not do their home work well. 

Venktesh Shukla, seasoned venture capitalist, gave these and many more advise to young start-ups while addressing an interactive session today at Career College auditorium. The session was organised by entrepreneur network The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Global. TiE Bhopal Chapter chairman Dr. Sandeep Kadve, AISECT director Siddharth Chaturvedi, Vision Advisory director Pradeep Karambelkar and Career College vice chairman Manish Rajoria also addressed the session.

Born in Bhopal and later settled in America Mr Shukla said that those who dare to dream are entrepreneurs. You need not to be born entrepreneur, you can always learn it to be a successful entrepreneur. Talking about challenges like raising fund and finding customers he said that being an entrepreneur also requires to be a little thin skin person because you need to cope up with lot many rejections. He also advised that many cooks spoil the food therefore start-ups should keep their partnership limited to four for better decision making and smooth functioning.

Mr Shukla said investors are always surrounded with fund seekers and they choose any venture very cautiously to fund. Therefore before approaching them start-ups should have a strong case. At the end of the session Mr Shukla also answered querries of participants.-Window To News
