Madhya Pradesh's "Aftaba" is Exhibit of the Month of December

Bhopal: Under the popular museum series 'Exhibit of the Month' of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, a traditional object is displayed in the appearance for a whole month. The exhibit for the month of December, 2017 is "Aftaba".  Smt. Vasamalli (Kosmandev) and Mr. Polillikutan was jointly inaugurated Exhibit of the month at Veethi Sankul indoor exhibition building. This exhibit of the month has been collected and compiled by Dr. Rakesh Bhatt (Assistant Keeper). On this occasion Director, IGRMS, Prof. Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri also present.

The Aftaba or ewer is one of the object that is most characteristic of everyday life in Islamic World. The ewer stands on a circular foot. The roundness of the Indian ewers in fact reveal the influence of the mellonate shape of the Indian pot.

This Large Water Container made of brass reveals the socio-economic status of the owner as the objects depicts rich Mughal style engravings showing star, half moon and other floral designs.
Tribal Literature Festival

In the era of current globalization, discussions on social issues are being lagged behind. Due to materialist thinking, we have the next generation is going to overcome from our roots, cultures. Under these circumstances tribal literature is becoming extinct somewhere, at the same time the process of creation has also stopped.

Keeping these conditions in mind, Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal is organizing Tribal Literature Festival with the aim of bringing the cultural and literary reserves of tribal inhabitants into mainstream. This festival will commence from December 14, 2017.

This Programme will be inaugurated by Shri. Tamsang (Chairman of Mayel Lyang Lepcha Development Board, West Bengal and a famous writer and philologer of Lepcha community) at Veethi Sankul from 10.30 am. With the opening session, the Craft Fair, in which the traditional craftsman from Madhya Pradesh will involve with their belongings as well as publishers of Tribal Literature from across the country, will also display a book exhibition.

Thereafter, the seminar will start from 12 noon, in which the keynote speaker will be Famous art critic, theoretician Mr. Kapil Tewari. As well as the legendary readers of the tribes from all over the country, the scholars of literary traditions will give their presentations. Cultural presentations will commence from 6.00 pm, in which cultural artists from Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh will present their presentations.

 "Aahar" is the Major attraction of this programme. In this, resident of Bhopal will Enjoy the delights of traditional dishes of M.P., Maharashtra and West Bengal. This function will last till December 16, 2017.-Windowtonews
