With the installation of sanitary napkin vending machine, Bhopal station has become the first railway station in India to provide such service. Named 'Happy Nari', the device is installed at platform number 1 of Bhopal by the initiative of Railway Women Welfare Association of Bhopal division in participation with a local NGO "Arushi".The machine that was installed at the Bhopal Railway Station dispensed over 600 sanitary napkins in the nine hours of installation on the very first day reports a leading daily.
With the capacity of holding 75 sanitary napkins at once, it is refilled by the staff on duty then who are well trained for the process and operation of the machine. The installation came as a new year gift to women passengers. The device is installed near the waiting room to facilitate women passengers. They can get two napkins for just in Rs 5. Anjali Thakur, the eldest among grade four worker of the Bhopal railway station, inaugurated the installation. - Window To News
