12th Car Rally for blind

Bhopal: The 12th Car Rally for blind was organized in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya and Arushi, NGO for disabled on 14 January, 2018. There were 50 participants-drivers and the visually impaired navigators took part. The rally was flagged off by Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri (Director, IGRMS), Ashok Shah (Principal Secretary, Govt. of MP) and Shobhan Chaudhuri, (Divisional Railway Manager, Bhopal Railway Mandal, West Central Railway) began from Prakash Taran Pushkar (near Amer Bakery Huts) and culminated at the Manav Sangrahalaya.

The rally where the vehicle was driven by a sighted person and the navigator was a blind person, the route map in Braille was given to them on the spot. The navigators for the rally were from all over Madhya Pradesh. The rally covered around 30 kms distance within the Bhopal Municipal limits. 50 teams of driver and navigators participated in the 12th chapter of Car Rally for blind.
The prize distribution programme was organized at Veethi Sankul open air auditorium of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya. Prof. Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri (Director, IGRMS), Ashok Shah (Principal Secretary, Govt. of MP) and Dr. Piyush Trivedi (Arushi, Bhopal) were present for giving the prizes to the winners. There were cash prizes and trophies for top three winners and gifts to all navigators. Surya Kant Gelani and Prem Hariyale bagged first prize of Rs 10000/-, Reema Makhija and Rinki Hirwani bagged second prize of Rs 6000/- cash is the expert category and Dr. Ravi Gupta and Priyesh Gupta third prize of Rs 4000/-cash and trophy. All participants were given Mementos, certificates and other prizes. IGRMS gifted caps and bags to all navigators.
