Bhopal: Monitoring of Prime Minister Rural Roads will be conducted in the entire country by the E-Marg software developed in Madhya Pradesh. As a result of this software the lowest maintenance work on just 6.16 percent roads is occurring in Madhya Pradesh at the national level. This was informed by the Joint Secretary of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India and Director General of NRIDA Smt. Alka Upadhyaya. She was addressing the National Workshop on Road Maintenance held at Bhopal today.

Smt. Upadhyaya said that the best work has been carried out in the country by Madhya Pradesh in the sector of rural roads. The main reason behind this is the monitoring system of the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Vikas Pradhikaran. She further mentioned that performance guarantee period of 60 percent roads out of the total roads constructed under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana till now in the country has expired and the roads need repairs now. There is a need for sturdy technique for constant monitoring of this process. In this situation, E-Marg is a better option. Smt. Upadhyaya stated that this system has been praised by the Government of India. This could be also implemented by other departments involved in road construction without delay. She congratulated Senior Technical Director of Bhopal NIC Vivek Chitle and his team for developing this software.

Chief Executive Officer of Madhya Pradesh Pradhan Mantri Sadak Development Pradhikaran Nitesh Vyas has informed that Madhya Pradesh has One lakh 13 thousand 708 k.m rural roads. Out of this 64 percent i.e. 73 thousand 265 k.m. are Pradhan Mantri Gramin roads. Repair and monitoring of these roads is a challenging work, which has been made easy and smooth by the Igeo approach system and E-marg in the state from the year 2013. This is the reason that roads of Madhya Pradesh is of better quality in comparison to all other states. He further informed that the concerned construction agency is responsible for maintenance up to 5 years after the construction of Prime Minister roads. Moreover it is a big task too to examine that better work is being carried out by agency or not and that has been made easy by the ‘E-Marg’ software. Besides this, public could also lodge complaint along with the photo of road on this software. This will also help to control quality, he added.

The Senior Technical Director of Madhya Pradesh NIC Vivek Chitle elaborated on the work process of the software. This software could also be operated from any place on android mobile.
