Death penalty the only punishment for criminals who disgrace humanity: CM Chouhan

CM Chouhan gives away certificates of excellence to police officials 

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh Police have presented the best example in the whole country of conducting proper investigation and punishing criminals guilty of heinous crimes against women with death penalty. He said that the investigation of criminals of sensitive category will be made more effective so that such brutal criminals who disgrace humanity do not go scotfree.

More facilities will be considered for the police team connected with the investigation. He said that the Supreme Court, High Courts and the Prosecution have been urged to start fast track courts for hearing of such cases.

Chouhan today felicitated police officials responsible for proper investigation and awarding of death penalty to criminals of heinous crimes against women at the CM House. Those awarded include DIGs, Superintendents of Police, Forensic Science Lab officials, police constables and prosecution officers.

Chouhan said that the Police and prosecution officials have given a message of security in society by ensuring death penalty to rapists who have disgraced humanity and women. He said that such incidents are very unfortunate and saddening but when the rapists are awarded stern punishments, it gives a sense of satisfaction also. Such criminals should not be spared under any circumstances. Chouhan said that devils do not have any human rights. The Earth should be freed of their burden, Death penalty is the only punishment for such criminals.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh Police have presented an outstanding example in the whole country. Those guilty of such heinous crimes were awarded death penalty in record time. He said that a reformative campaign should be launched for such perverts in society but this is a lengthy process and may not necessarily transform every criminal. It is essential to instill fear of law in such criminals. Lauding the police and prosecution officials for their effective efforts and team work Chouhan said that getting such criminals punished is a service to the society. Expressing gratitude to the courts that sentence such criminals to death, Chouhan said that the courts have also done an excellent job by meting out prompt justice.

Director General of Police R.K. Shukla said that the use of digital technology has expedited the process of investigation and helped factual analysis of crimes. He told that installation of CCTV cameras in all the districts has helped in controlling criminal activities. As many as 10 thousand CCTV cameras have been installed in sensitive areas in all the districts. He said that the entire team assisted by the prosecution officers, police officials and the society have facilitated in investigation and punishment to the criminals of such heinous crimes.

Principal Secretary Home Malay Shrivastava, Director Public Prosecution Dr. Rajendra Kumar and Additional Director General of Police Anvesh Mangalam and senior police officials were present on the occasion.-Window To News
