Imprisonment of 30 days to be pardoned from sentence period of entitled prisoners

Prisoners’ remuneration to be increased by Rs.10 per day 
Chief Minister dedicates open jail of Indore and Sagar 
Shrikrishna Janmotsav celebrated at Bhopal Central Jail 

Bhopal: On the holy occasion of Shrikrishna Janmotsav, the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that 30 days imprisonment will be pardoned from the period of the entitled prisoners, who are serving sentence in the jails of the state. He gave approval to the department’s proposal for providing items of daily use like bindi, bangles, sindur and hair bands to female prisoners and toothpaste, brush and shaving kit for male prisoners. Chouhan was addressing the Shrikrishna Janmotsav Samaroh held at the Central Jail here today. He also e-dedicated open jails of Indore and Sagar.

Chouhan said that per day remuneration paid to the prisoners, who are skilled will be increased from Rs. 110 to 120 and similarly remuneration for those prisoners, who are unskilled will be increased from Rs. 62 to 72. Moreover, this will also be linked with the price index for constant increase in remuneration.

CM Chouhan further mentioned that the government will cooperate with the Jail Department. He said that ideal situation will only take place, when the society will become crime free and the numbers of jails come down. Shri Chouhan stated that nobody is a habitual criminal. Crime takes place because of adverse conditions and behavioral disorder. Hidden creative talent is found in every individual, whether it is a prisoner. There is a need for creating necessary environment for demonstration of creative potentials. After completing the punishment, prisoners should return in the society as responsible citizens.

The Shrikrishna Janmotsav was celebrated with traditional fervor and gaiety at Bhopal Central Jail. Preparations were made by the prisoners with enthusiasm. Chief Minister, his wife Smt. Sadhna Singh, Minister for Jail Antar Singh Arya and Minister of State for Cooperative (Independent Charge) Vishwas Sarang attended the function.

On his arrival at the premises of the Bhopal Central Jail, the Chief Minister Chouhan was presented salute by the Armed Guards and was accorded welcome by the bhajan mandlis of the prisoners. He saw tableau of Shrikrishna Janmotsav. Bhajan recital based on Lord Shrikrishna’s leela and cultural programmes took place on the occasion. The Director General of Police Sanjay Chowdhary enlightened on jail reforms. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Jail Department Vinod Semval.

Darshan at Shri Radha Krishna Mandir

Before this, the CM Chouhan visited Shri Radha Krishna Mandir situated at Aheer Mohalla of Barkhedi and took darshan. Member of Parliament Alok Sanjar, Mayor Alok Sharma, Chairperson of Akhil Bhartiya Kirar Mahasabha and wife of CM Smt. Sadhna Singh, MLA Surendranath Singh and Bhagwandas Sabnani were present on the occasion.-Window To News
