5 days Winter School Programme commence at IGRMS Bhopal

Bhopal: Today, 5 days Winter School Programme commence at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya Bhopal will be celebrated from 29th November to 03rd December, 2018. Prof. N. Sridharan, Director School of Planning and Architecture inaugurated the Programme in the presence of eminent experts and students by lighting the lamp at IGRMS. Dr. Surya Kumar Pandey delivered welcome speech and introduced all the participants about Sh. Rolf Killius.
While introducing about Winter School programme, Killius said that it was an interactive programme in which firstly we discussed on various topics and thereafter, other participants share their experiences on their domains. He further share his experience on work done at Qatar and British Library, London. Thereafter, discussion was held on Museum in interactive dialogue, Relation between Tangible and Intangible history alongwith Intangible Heritage History, Tangible and Intangible Heritage History of India and Other countries.
On the second day, Projects done by Sh. Killius in his domain and display of films on his regional work during his visit to India, Pakistan, Bangaladesh, Qatar and Oman will be done. On the third day, Experimental work done by the people on History of Oral Culture and Music & works used by Media will be discussed. On the fourth day, there will be a discussion on Musical Science, Ethnic music & co-related songs and also the regional work done at Oman by Killius. On the 5th and last day of programme Killius will share his ideas on the gist of all the experimental work done by him through an interview.
Prof. N. Sridharan, Chief Guest of the programme said that Economy of money played a major role in hampering the culture. He said that with the help of Panchayat of Ukkapadu Village, nearby to Vijaywada (about 40 kms) he stored the artifacts scattered in paddy field and make a small museum, so why it should not be at other places. He further emphasized on preserving the culture at its original place and requested all the participants to disperse the experimental knowledge in all over the country, which they gained from this 5 days winter school programme.
Prof. Sarit K. Chaudhuri, director IGRMS explained the purpose of such winter school in the context of ethnographic museum and in the wider context of understanding journey of mankind. He said that we added IGRMS, decided to how such winter school as an annual event and expect this will be beneficial to all who deals with museum and tries to understand contemporary issues of our time.
At the end of programme, Dilip Singh, Joint Director of IGRMS Bhopal gave vote of thanks and said that it is the responsibility of all the participants to disperse knowledge gained by them during this 5 days event in all over the country, so that this knowledge shall be preserved for future generation. He also said that with dissemination of this knowledge people should also contribute in preserving this Intangible Heritage. The Programme was conducted by Tanya Tahenguria. -Window To News
