Participation of villagers must for conservation of biodiversity: PR Minister Sharma

Bhopal: Minister for Public Relations, Law and Legislative Affairs, Science and Technology, Aviation, Religious Trusts and Endowment P.C. Sharma said that participation of villagers is must and of great importance for conservation of biodiversity. Sharma said this while addressing the workshop organized at Jagran Lake City University.

Sharma asserted that power to impose surcharge for using resources by villagers has been given to Gram Panchayats under the Panchayati Raj. Gram Panchayats can take several measures for biodiversity conservation by utilizing money generated by them by using this power. He also termed religious beliefs important in protecting the environment. Sharma said religious granths mention that Devi-Devatas inhabit Peepal tree. All of us know that peepal tree releases oxygen 24 hours. Sharma further mentioned that everyone will get benefits of conclusions of the workshop for conservation of biodiversity.-Window To News
