Cow cess may implement on expensive cars, stamp duty and toll plaza
Chief Minister Kamal Nath trying to keep his promises; government to raise revenue to open cowshed
FEB 01 (WTN) - Kamal Nath government of Madhya Pradesh is facing finincial crises, but the governmnet has promised to open up to a thousand cowsheds in the state, but the big question is from where will the necessary money be collected to open these cowherds? According to the information, the State Animal Husbandry Department will need around 150 crore rupees to open and run 1,000 cowsheds worth 100 cows per cowshed, but the department has a budget of only 50 crore rupees at this time. Now that there is no enough budget for the cowsheds to Kamal Nath government but they have promised to open them, in this case, Kamal Nath government can resort to the policies of the BJP-ruled states to raise revenue for the cowsheds.
According to information received from the media, the Madhya Pradesh government is studying the possibility of generating the necessary revenue for the cowsheds by implementing cow tax on expensive cars, stamp duty and toll plaza. If the Congress government of Madhya Pradesh imposes cow tax, then it will be the first Congress government to impose any kind of tax for the welfare of the cows.
As you know; to woo the rural vote bank, Congress has said that 1,000 cowsheds will be opened before Lok Sabha elections. But there is a big difference in saying and doing because the government does not have enough money to open and run the cowsheds. According to the information, Kamal Nath government has constituted a committee to fulfill the revenue deficit. Health, forest, revenue, Panchayat and animal husbandry department have included in this committee. Now this committee will have the work to suggest how to raise and generate revenue for the cow’s welfare and the cowsheds?
It is being said that Kamal Nath government has many options to raise revenue for the welfare of cows and opening of the cowsheds, for example cess on the expensive cars, stumps duty and toll plaza etc. Although it is not clear what the government is meant by the expensive cars, but it is being said that after discussion and consent from Chief Minister Kamal Nath, it will be decided how much tax to be imposed on particular types of cars?
Now it has to be seen how long the scheme of raising revenue to open the cowshed of Kamalnath government can be started? If Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh succeeds in opening the cowsheds before the Lok Sabha elections, it can be said that it would be a big bet of it.
