National Workshop on Tribal Healers

Bhopal: The Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya is organising a National Workshop cum demonstration on Tribal Healers at the Sangrahalaya premises, Bhopal from 19th to 25th February 2019. The representatives from Tribal Healers & Tribal Research Institute from different places viz. Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh & Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir etc are participating in this workshop.
This workshop aims to provide a platform to tribal healers to discuss tribal medicine related traditional knowledge on bio diversity and to evolve a strategy for transmission of this intangible natural heritage to the next generation in a professional manner. The tribal healers will also exhibiting their medicinal matter and demonstrating their skill in treating illness and debilitating conditions. During the workshop the healers will be exchanging their skill in traditional Kerala massage therapy, steambath techniques and few other therapeutic knowledge and techniques. This workshop is open from 11.00 am to 8:00 pm at Mandapam of the Manav Sangrahalaya.

Exhibit of the Month
Under the popular museum series 'Exhibit of the Month' of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, a double membrane earthen musical drum "URUMILI" is displayed in the appearance for the month of February, 2019.
