CM Chouhan to virtually dedicate 13 thousand rural roads

Roads construction facilitated employment besides continuous development
Bhopal 07 October 2020: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will dedicate 12 thousand 960 rural roads of 4 thousand 120 k.m. in length, constructed by Panchayat and Rural Development department via virtual programme at 10.00 a.m. on October 8. These roads have been constructed at a cost of Rs. 1359 crore under various schemes of the rural development. Along with providing employment to villagers during the corona crisis, these roads have been built to ensure the continuous the development process. Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Mahendra Singh Sisodiya and Minister of State Ramkhelavan Patel will especially present at the programme. Chief Minister Chouhan will also interact with few Sarpanchs of the districts during the inaugural function.
These 12,960 roads to be dedicated in rural areas include 171 roads of total 1104 k.m. length and 47 major bridges, constructed at a cost of Rs. 691.41 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, 10 thousand 792 cement concrete roads of 3016 k.m. length have been constructed by the department in the same period and 1997 gravel roads have been built inside the villages for smooth movement to schools and majra-tolas etc.
In the virtual programme, while dedicating these roads, Chief Minister Chouhan will interact with Sarpanchs of Alirajpur, Khargone, Betul, Katni, Sidhi and Narsinghpur districts about the MNREGA roads and with the Sarpanchs of Barwani and Ratlam districts about the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
It is to be mentioned that the roads of those districts have been included in the inaugural function, where no by-elections are taking place. The roads of the districts, where by-elections are taking place have not been included in the programme – Window to News
