Bhopal 15 November 2020: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that more efforts will be made to protect cow progeny. Madhya Pradesh has taken a unique initiative in the country by making Gou-Abhyaran (Cow Sanctuary). Gaushalas are being constructed continuously in the state. Other steps necessary for cow protection will be reveiwed and new steps will be implemented. The Gou Abhyaran of Agar-Malwa will become a model of cow progeny’s protection. It will be ensured that the government and society work together for cow progeny’s protection. Chief Minister Chouhan said that on this day, people should also take a pledge to save the environment. There is a tradition of Gopashtami parva on the eighth day of Shukl Paksh in Kartik month. Chief Minister Chouhan said that this time he will celebrate Gopashtami festival of cow worship in Gou Abhyaran.

On the occasion of Govardhan Puja, Chief Minister Chouhan along with the family today performed puja- archana at his residence and fed two she-calves Ashtami and Dhanwantri, born this week in the Gau-shala of the Chief Minister's House. Chief Minister Chouhan performed puja archana after the Parikarima of Govardhan Parvat. Chief Minister's wife Sadhna Singh and family members were present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that Govardhan Puja is an occasion of delight. Actually it is worship of nature and environment. The day of Govardhan Puja gives a message of protecting the environment. Govardhan Parvat was lifted by Lord Sri Krishna at his little finger with the feeling of welfare of all. He told the Brijvasis that he will celebrate Annakoot festival every year by performing Govardhan Puja. This tradition has been going on since then. Chief Minister Chouhan said that this festival still has importance.

This festival is relevant, it is a festival to make the younger generation aware of the importance of nature. Without trees and animals, there is no meaning of human life.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that Gau Mata is wonderful. Many medicines are made from cow's milk and urine. Worship of cow progeny gives satisfaction.
