Bhopal 16 February 2021: Expressing deep grief over the incident in which a bus fell into a canal near Sarda Patan village in Sidhi district, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that this incident is really unfortunate. I am very distressed and sad. Seven people have been rescued. Relief work is in progress. Bodies are being fished out of the canal. Chief Minister Chouhan paid homage to the departed souls and prayed to God to grant them peace.
Chief Minister Chouhan informed that instructions have been given to provide immediate assistance of Rs five lakh to the families of each deceased. We are with the families of the victims in this time of grief. The entire state stands with them. My appeal is to be patient. I, the state government and the entire public is with you. Chief Minister Chouhan said that I have instructed Collector Sidhi to start all possible relief work. Instructions have also been given to immediately stop water from Bansagar dam.
CM Chouhan holds high level meeting
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took a high level meeting with the ministers regarding the bus accident in Sidhi in Mantralaya. He instructed Water Resources Minister Tulsi Ram Silawat and Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Development Ramkhelavan Patel to leave for the accident site immediately. Chief Minister Chouhan instructed the Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains that there should be no shortfall of resources in the relief work. He said that the relief work and assistance should be provided with full sensitivity.
Police administration and SDRF teams active at the site
Police, administration and SDRF teams are constantly active in search and relief work at the site. Hydra and other necessary resources are available on the spot. All essential arrangements including availability of doctors and ambulance, have been ensured at the scene. MP Reeti Pathak, MLA Churhat Sharadendu Tiwari, Rewa Divisional Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Jain, I.G. Rewa Umesh Joga, Collector and S.P. are present at the accident site. Till the news was reported, 37 bodies have been fished out of the canal.
Griha Pravesh programme postponed, Cabinet meeting cancelled
Chief Minister Chouhan postponed the Griha Pravesh programme organized under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) due to a bus accident in Sidhi. On reaching Minto Hall, Chief Minister Chouhan said that the Griha Pravesham programme was organized with enthusiasm. But in view of the Sidhi accident, it would not be appropriate to conduct the programme today.
