Madhya Pradesh tops in providing interest free loan
Bhopal 28 March 2021: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that it is my priority to make the lives of path vendors easy in urban and rural areas in the state. Important steps have been taken to ensure the well-being of small street vendors and strengthen their life base. With the speed with which Madhya Pradesh has ensured the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Rin Yojana, the state is top in the country. In this series, the Chief Minister Rural Street-Vendors Scheme which was started in Madhya Pradesh to facilitate the lives of street vendors have brought positive results. Under the scheme, small street vendors of rural areas have also been provided interest-free loan of Rs. 10 thousand to upgrade their work. The state government has given the credit guarantee. Also, the loan process has been exempted from stamp duty. Chief Minister Chouhan informed that working capital of Rs. 10 thousand per beneficiary has been provided to about 5.50 lakh urban and rural street vendors in the state.
Support in difficult circumstances
Chief Minister Chouhan said that this scheme was given pace on priority basis in the last six months. The year 2020 was a difficult year for the entire economy due to Corona crisis. It was also a period of economic crisis for small businessmen. Under such circumstances, the needy road vendors received support by getting working capital. Then about five lakh identity cards were prepared in Madhya Pradesh. This was a very important work. Economic development of small traders is being ensured by conducting campaigns in the state. Collectors have been asked to register the street vendors in their district through the portal. Directions have been given get path vendors who were left out, registered on the Chief Minister’s Urban Unorganized Workers Integrated Portal and their loands should be presetend to the banks. Besides, approval of cases is also being ensured by coordinating with banks.
Directive to urban bodies to play active role
Chief Minister Chouhan has asked all the urban bodies to play an active role in order to give momentum to the scheme. Collectors have also been instructed to establich contact with beneficiaries at the district level and resolve their cases soon. The state government is also contacting bankers persistently to overcome difficulties being faced at the bank level. Chief Minister Chouhan informed that continuous support is also being received from the centre in the implementation of the scheme.
Beneficiaries of rural areas also availing benefits
Chief Minister Chouhan said that this scheme is being reviewed in Collectors-Commissioners Conference every month. Instructions have been issued to district authorities to ensure that no eligible person remains deprived of the benefits of the scheme in both urban and rural areas. Instructions have been given to conduct campaigns in every district to provide benefits to the beneficiaries and give results. Last month, about 13 lakh applications were received under the Chief Minister Rural Street-Vendor Loan Scheme. Ever since the portal has ben activated, this number has been constantly increasing. About 2 lakh cases have been presented before the banks out of which one lakh cases have been approved and the beneficiaries have received funds for upgrading their business. On the completion of one year of the state government on March 23, a loan amount of Rs. 60 crore was transferred to the accounts of 60 thousand rural street vendorsat a state level programme.
Tribal dominated areas at the forefront in cities
In a review of the PM Swanidhi Yojana in Madhya Pradesh, Alirajpur is among the first three top urban bodies with 75 percent achievement, Nainpur 70 and Amarwada municipality with 67 percent achievement. The other three Nagar Parishads which are ahead in the implementation of this scheme include Sanwer (Indore district) 87 percent, Machhalpur (Rajgarh district) 84 percent and Niwari 80 percent – Window to News
